  • definitely a good price. but do you really want to spend 800bux on a 32" tv? you won't see a big diff between 720p and 1080p. check out toshiba 32av600a. it's a good screen. the guy at binglee offered me for $585. you can probably get another 10-15bux off if you went to a different store. :)

    • Totally disagree, this would be a much better buy , better inputs higher resolution. I would pay the extra but make sure to get extended warrnty

each to their own. just presenting a different option for those who want to spend less. there's a big difference between 799 and 585.

        • Agreed this is saving money

          • @Mikinoz: :)

I would personally pay $800 over $585 any day for a 32" that has the much loved Bravia engine, and is Full HD, then you wont be sitting at home a year later regretting your purchase and realising the $215 doesn't buy the upgrade now.

I look at the TVs in the wall at JB, nothing for under $700 comes close to the Bravia 1080s.

            But each to their own.

@RideCurbs: excatly. each to their own. we can sit these 2 tvs side by side and compare all day long lol (don't think that's relevant here). but yeah the toshiba definitely has good picture quality and it's actually tagged for 749 at the good guys. i've actually done a lot of research on that model cos i was getting a tv for my mum (my mum doesn't need to watch anything in 1080p all she needs is good PQ:). i've put in a lot of time to get it at that 585 lol. just thought i share it with you all.

ps: feel like i'm posting in DTV forum hahahaha

              • @freeloada: notice you bought this for your mum not for yourself ;)

                • +1

@Mikinoz: yeah i bought myself one of the first sharp 1080p models and a few months later realised that 720p does me just fine. plus the data storage issue with 1080p movies. so i learnt my lesson there lol

    Great Price!

I am very keen on this deal, might go down to my local JB and see if they can beat it

    • Let me know i am considering this myself

  • This has DLNA feature (connects to your comp and stream media over to it). Nice deal. You know when it expires? edit: Feb 15th according to site

    • do you have a link or any info on DLNA wondering how and what formats it supports

  • anyone know if this has motion compensation?

  • I'm still not convinced full-HD at 32" is necessary… unless you're sitting 40cm from the screen anyway! I'd love a 37" full-HD screen for that price though!

    • paying that price for a bravia, think of the full hd as a bonus =]
      but yes not necessary.

  • Any good recommendatio for 42 or 46 ", guys?~~~~

    • +1

go to a store and have a look. see if you want to pay the extra for a 46".

      • Why not? It is for my living room. It has to be bigger.

        • go for a 50+ then. 2wks after i got my 42" i wanted a 50". or you can wait for the 3D tv to come out :)

          • @freeloada: how much did you get your 42" for? Was it full HD LCD?

            • @Yourstel: you wouldn't want the tv i have. it's too old now.
too much to write here. PM me if you are interested in my 2cents worth of advise.

  • Is this the 50hz or 100hz version

    • 50HZ

  • Does anyone know if Sony produce a wireless adapter that can plug into the DLNA Ethernet port? If so, how much would it cost? I know that other brands like Samsung do, just not sure about Sony.

For me, an ethernet port is useless unless it's wireless.

    • "For me, an ethernet port is useless unless it’s wireless."

Sorry, totally off-topic, but that quote amused me :)

For what it's worth, it's really not that hard to make a media centre computer, and you'll get a far better experience from that than you will streaming to a TV.

      • I disagree. Streaming is useful and the new age. With the ethernet port, I can just connect it to my wireless router (just need to buy like a 10M cable which is like $10) and have it interact with my computer which is not in the same room. So then you share media between different rooms. No need to burn media to divx/dvd or transfer to external usbs to watch on the TV.

        • The concept of streaming is good. The implementation is bad. You want something fairly powerful and with the ability to perform complex tasks to manage the media. You want the screen to just play it. Unfortunately that's not how streaming is usually implemented, if it was then it'd be good! I mean, it's a nice feature to have I suppose, but very limited. I'd not consider it for a serious home theatre media collection. It's hard enough getting high powered computers to play full hi-def MKV's and stuff nowadays, let alone asking a TV to.

  • Long time user, first time caller.

Just picked one of these up at Sony Central in Chatswood (40in was 1100 I think). They had the same price advertised. Wouldn't budge on the price though. I rang Good Guys Chatswood, the guy said he just sold one for 789 cash so looks like it's a pretty tight price.
Anyone wanna buy a 27in Dell monitor and a playtv haha.

  • Also, not sure if anyones noticed the toshiba deal. It's a Full HD 40in for 999 at good guys. Great set, parents have one.

  • In a market to get 32" HD LCD for my PC monitor and console gaming (I don't watch TV or movies). Is the 50Hz going to be problematic at all?

  • this is totally off topic as well (but my work is so boring today)…. there are a lot of bargains around these days because they are trying to clear out stock for new tvs that are coming out. the ultimate tv will probably be the 3D tv in the next decade. don't spend too much on your tv and wait for the 3D :)

    • You can buy 3D TV now. It's not very useful.

    • meh until they make a decent screen which doesn't require glasses i think it'll be more of a novelty function. they are working on the technology but even if it's ready by tomorrow they'll still milk the current technology e.g. hd line of tv's->full hd line of tv's 3d line of tv's->non glasses 3d tv's.

  • Anyone manage to get the price lower by paying cash in Sydney?? Looking to go get one later today.

    • nope. i tried both good guys and sony central, neither would make it worth while. Good guys offered $10 off, I figured 55 days interest free on a credit was better.
