Thanks, I replaced my Dell Inspiron 1525 HDD with an SSD and wanted to use the HDD for storage so will pick this one up!

Can't see anything that says it supports UASP. Which means you can't really use it for high performance SSD

  • I have one and build quality is pretty good, however I would rathar spend couple of dollars extra to get a screwless caddy.

    MSY clayton no more stock

    • According to their website, it is still in-stock in Clayton. Did you went in store?

      • Yes, I work around the corner, they said they were all snapped up.

        • That was quick!! LOL!! This deal just started today..

          @ykwon10:

          Welcome to OzBargain.

        • That's what I thought too. Didn't think it's such a good deal anyways that they would be snapped up that fast. I mean u save $6 and they have few other models probably better than this one for under $20

    • thanks. saved me a trip

no mention of UASP support, this could be quite ineffective for SSD.

  • SATA III compatible?

    Fantastic.

I had 2 drives sitting on the shelf doing nothing.

    Thanks for posting.

    undead (rogue)

  • Don't know if its a coincidence. But my first hard drive death occurred after using one of these enclosures

  • What's UASP? I'm just starting out with SSD drives. About to get one to run OS X from for my Mac mini. Can someone point me in the direction of one of these caddys that will go well with a 240gb SSD? Thanks heaps. Sorry for being a noob.

Sadly $14.43 postage total $23.43 to rural nsw.

  • I picked mine up from Clayton today, sure looks ugly but its useful I guess. Silver body and bright green tray.

  • I looked at the reviews. Apparently the quality is not very good? Can anyone recommend any brand from msy?? Astone good?? Thanks.

  • DAMN!
I've bought ~10 of these, over the last 18months.
Got 5 myself. Still got 5+ laptop drives sitting loose in a draw :(

    They're excellent, for the price.
I did a ton of speed tests (SSD), compared to direct connection, and compared to Silverstone USB3 etc. if anyone gives a hoot.

    $9 is a no-brainer.

    • eBay x 10 HDDs and profit?

      • Never thought about that. I should hand-in my OzB card :(

I use for random small (couldn't sell) old drives. Perfect for many backups, smart TVs, media players etc.

I was cursing that I missed-out on stock. Just checked online, and heaps of stores show stock. Visited dandenong (head warehouse). They showed 21. Grabbed several.

They always chuckle at stock levels, as they walk next door, and have BOXES more, of everything.

They're not fast, but they're SO cheap. I've grown to like the design, use a black texta/sharpy on the green grille.

  • Meh, generic ones I get for $7.60 on ebay seem to work fine for me.

    • can you give us the link please.thanks!

  • Picked up this one for $12 which is tool-less and has UASP support.

Wouldn't have looked if it weren't for this post, thanks OP :)

  • My two arrived today. Quality is great. Comes with cables and even a screwdriver. Have a 750GB HGST 7200rpm in there and was getting 120MB/s+ writes. Happy with the purchase.

And yes, they are green along the ends.
