I ordered a Lenovo recently from USA.

Even with a 20% coupon from the Aussie site (and even if you get an EPP discount as well) it STILL works out to be much cheaper buying it from overseas.

Saving of around $700 for me on the same machine (using coupons on the US site - search google for 'Lenovo coupons').

    • Did you also buy international warranty ? as from my experience lenovo do not sell with international warranty, this would be a problem if you want to extend the warranty or when logging a service call.

      Please advise ?

I bought through an agent in the USA using PriceUSA.

I paid for return insurance so PriceUSA will forward the laptop to USA to be fixed - and to be returned to me.

The warranty is only a year anyway AFAIK.

        • return insurance ?? sounds interesting and after reading it i am still skeptical.

So i figure, you have an OS adapter, US keyboard and a hell of a long wait for any warranty claims to me this negates the possible price reduction.

I am an ex IBM/Lenovo engineer and there is no way i would do this to save a few bucks, good luck to you a really hope you bought a decent model ( not the s10 range) and have no problems

@Mikinoz: Warranty claims take a long time wherever you are. I have done them before :-) I still don't need to pay for it to be sent to the USA or returned.

And I am using a US keyboard now.. and it's what I want? ;)

            I got a x200s.

And as an ex IBM/Lenovo guy I reckon you were just trying to stir.. but anyway..

            • @bohn: Nice one , they are a great machine. i have the x60 & x300 among others very nicely designed etc.

@bohn: I'm all for importing I am sick of Companies gouging the australian market, what is the difference between a US and Aus keyboard I would have thought that it would be the same

              • @melmac77: its either the uk or US we dont actually get a keyboard , doh

so am i , but be aware there is a good reason not to import some things its is also the power adapter cord, either get a new one or carry a convertor with you

Not that i am against importing i just wouldnt with IBM/ Lenovo, i say this with good experience

@melmac77: Australia uses the US keyboard.. Don't we? :)

                • @Koonit: Depends but usually yes (dollar symbol vs pound) its usually the 4 key that is different

            • @bohn: What would be the benefit of trying to stir ??

I can see why you bought from the US. We are seriously being ripped off even if you add in any US state taxes, etc…

  • I bought a refurb T400 delivered from the US for 1/3 the price of the new local one here .I also bought a brand new T500 from HT for half the normal price which was a great deal , Both about 7 months ago . Thinkpads are great but way over priced IMHO .
