    Would recommend.

Why not just use Amazon AWS? They're based in Sydney too.

    • Does Amazon AWS provide similar offerings?

    • +8

AWS are hardly bargains unless you are talking about the 1st year free tier that can barely do anything. Some comparison

AWS t2.small 1 Year Reserved NetPre OZC KVM SSD 2
      Monthly Cost $33.161 $11.902
      vCPU 1 3
      Memory 2GB 2GB
      SSD 30GB3 30GB
      Data 15GB4 2TB

So unless you are heavily invested in the whole AWS ecosystem + needing the flexibility (but you wouldn't use a reserved instance), I don't think AWS is "bargain".

      1. $23.36 USD, googled exchange rate

      2. After 15% off coupon is applied

      3. Free tier 1st year. Otherwise USD$0.12/GB/month

      4. Free tier 1st year. Otherwise USD$0.14/GB

what are the specifications for the KVM, High-Power KVM and Xen plans? the US ones shows 2x 2.5Ghz cores but I don't see much on the other pages.

Are upgrades to an active VPS as easy as shutdown, reprovision and startup again or does one have to migrate?

    • Hi thushan,

There's different platforms (VPS hosting nodes) in the fleet available for these VPS Plans and they vary from Dell based servers (various from the Dell R-series of chassis) with Intel Xeon CPUs of 2.5Ghz clock rate or higher, through to other custom-built nodes with faster CPUs and RAM (the High Power VPS Plans use them in particular).

Upgrades are easy and as you describe, just a shutdown/restart usually to add resources, typically no migration required.

      Regards,
      Richard.

Would this be suitable for operating team speak server? Or is this just a fancy name for web hosting

    • +1

These give you a base OS install. You can do with it what you want, including setting up a TS server.

If you need a Windows server, you'll most likely need to pay for additional licensing costs. TS does have a Linux-based server so if you're familiar with a particular distro you can set it up yourself for no additional cost.

    • +1

These are VMs - Your own Virtualised box essentially. You get your own OS and can do what you want with it. Very suitable for a TS server.

    • Hi dewy,

Sure, you can use our VPS for Team Speak servers, many people do.

We've got separate infrastructure for Gaming purposes and the VPS Plans offered in this deal do have access to that.

But as others have mentioned, a VPS is your own Linux server on the Internet, you'd need to install and setup your Team Speak server, but we can help with that if you need (there's lots of guides on the 'Net about it though).

      Regards,
      Richard.

Just purchased one of the High Power KVM SSD VPS #4 for 30% off recurring as per the other bargain for NP here: Sydney KVM SSD 'High Power' VPS - 30% off Monthly @ Network Presence

With CPanel it came to $69/mo recurring. CPanel is obviously a luxury, bloating the price - Without CPanel this is a very decent deal for hosting here in Aus.

Let's see how I get on.

    • Hi DrDollar,

Let us know if you need anything wrt cPanel on that VPS, as though the cPanel install on the VPS is all automated, it can be confusing if you haven't used it before wrt WHM and cPanel.

Just log a Support Ticket in the Client Area or drop us an email (help AT networkpresence.com.au) if you need anything there.

      Regards,
      Richard.

  • Payment processing is terrible/out dated (resulted in me being charged for another two payments after cancelling a service).
The servers are simply terrible performance wise, the SSD servers feel slower IO wise than HDD offerings from other companies. I don't even think they're using any kind of RAID array, it seems like they've simply put a few budget SSDs in a server and called it a day. Internet speeds are absolutely terrible, on a plan listing a 1gbps port I never once seen speeds over even 50mbps (testing against speed test servers, various of my other servers and even against another NP server), speeds for the most part stayed around the 2-5MB/s (16-40mbps) mark. CPU wise the servers felt quite slow, though I never tried anything overly CPU intensive to accurately say much about this.

Overall, yeah they're quite cheap, but other companies (RansomIT for example) have more professional offerings at similar pricing points. You won't get as much spec wise (data/storage) though it's not oversold and is an actual RAID array. I don't see any deal in paying $3-5/mo for a server that technically works but not quite, when you can pay $5/mo elsewhere for one that works or $1-2/mo for a budget US server if you're fine with lower performance.

    • So sorry dyl that you had these issues. Your Paypal activity was very out of the ordinary and rare re: that double payment thing.

dyl was one of our first handful of customers on this new site & helped us weed out the bugs in the process and site, we learned a lot from what his issues were and things are much smoother and a bit different now that we've had more time running this site & infrastructure.

For example, we don't provision orders on the Node that dyl used, we upgraded all other customers on that Node to help overcome the issues dyl logged & mentioned here previously.

Of course, all disk arrays (HDD & SSD) are multi-drive RAID10 though, that's for sure.

But I'm glad you're happy where you are dyl.

      Regards,
      Richard.

      • Not a double payment as such, simply 2 further payments been taken by the PayPal subscription over 2 months after I contacted support to cancel my service. In other words they cancelled the server though forgot to stop taking further payments. I have just had a look and it seems you are using a slightly different (automated?) payment gateway now so hopefully that means it's a more automated and smooth system.

Are you able to provide the actual specs of the nodes? What RAID arrays are being used, how large the arrays are, what CPUs are used and at what ratio cores are sold at, etc.

All that aside, NP is a really confusing website offering multiple different packages on different nodes (some even with different payment gateways and automation systems for whatever reason) under the single company, so this may (as you stated above) be on a different node to past offers and may be a higher quality product. I still personally would avoid NP with past experiences in mind, hence the neg vote.

        • I'm certainly glad we've not had anyone else with the Paypal woes that beseiged dyl's short time with us and I've mentioned here in this deal's comments some info about the Nodes that the various VPS Plans offered in this deal are provisioned on, as there's no uniform Node spec, we vary it depending on the VPS Plan and any customisations a customer may want. eg: the High Power VPS Plans are on platforms with higher CPU and RAM throughput than others, some Nodes are Storage focussed for other plan types etc.
But if genuine prospective customers would like more details of a platform relevant to their desired VPS Plan type, please do email us at sales AT networkpresence.com.au and we can help you further there I'm sure.

As for why there's 2 sites for our VPS products: we're in the midst of evaluating and transitioning our online stores, so that's why there's products on our www site and other products on our shop site, it's intentional at the moment. In time we'll further amalgamate them, but it's working well for us and other customers and we're still working on adding features and functionality to both sites and online stores (they're working hand-in-hand, some features separate, some functionality shared), so there will be the 2 x NetPres stores for some time to come.

There's great diversity in this market and I like that, no one supplier suits everyone and not every customer is a good fit for us, "horses for courses" & I don't see that as a negative.

          Regards,
          Richard.

  • This coupon code works for the cPanel Control Panel option too for orders on our Shopfront site, so it can provide a 15% permanent discount on the cPanel Monthly License cost for orders placed thru https://shop.networkpresence.com.au

    Regards,
    Richard.

  • As per our 25%+ OZBargain Coupon Offer (available into January 2016): We've rolled out our Pay by The Hour of Runtime capability for various VPS Plan types on our main website.

With this you get a low recurring monthly charge for your VPS (which does include some hours of runtime) and then you only incur further costs when you start and run your VPS at Network Presence.

There's more info and details on this in our Blog and the various VPS Plan types that have this capability already are:

    Xen based Value VPS Plans

    Xen SSD VPS Plans

    KVM SSD VPS Plans

    Storage VPS Plans

And more of our various VPS Plan types on our www site will be enabled for this in the coming weeks.

    FYI,
    Richard.
