You will need to 'share' on FB/Twitter/Google+, however I've found that simply hovering over the icons is usually enough to allow access without sharing at all.
The course is from Shaw Academy, has 10 lessons, and awards you with some kind of certification at the end.

  • Does it need facebook like?

No - it asks for a facebook 'share', not a like. If you leave your mouse on the link to 'share' for long enough, Stacksocial will think you have shared it and let you access the deal without actually sharing :-)

        Like.

If you can't be bothered waiting, open up developer tools (Inspect Element "Get it") and remove the Disabled bit.

Wow, I feel like such a hacker, this was so cool!

Didn't work for me so I shared it with myself only and it worked.

Nice free course but the certification? Who exactly would recognize it. Anyone can issue a jpg at the end of a course that says "Yay you did our whole course".

    • Probably not worth anything. I did an online photography course 2-3 years ago, before I purchased a DSLR and it was very worthwhile. I didn't see the point in investing a lot of cash in equipment that I didn't know how to use properly.

    • If it's like the last course I did from them, it'll be a worthless bit of paper.

I did an associate diploma course that's the equivalent of a "pre-Diploma workshop".

Didn't learn a whole heap I didn't already know, but did pick up some tips.

Oh, and the Live events are live, but they are at like 3 or 4am our time.

online core lessons or watch on demand

I just joined the course. at 7pm BRITISH SUMMER TIME, 5am in Sydney.

    How the course works:
-The course consists of 10 lessons, each being 1 hour in duration
-These are delivered over a four week period with two/three lessons per week broadcast LIVE every -Monday and Wednesday at 7pm BRITISH SUMMER TIME.
-Lessons are delivered LIVE via webinar. You will receive three reminder emails for each class - 1 day before, and 1 hour before each lesson commences. These will explain exactly how to attend each webinar. PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

    • "Students can attend 10 live lessons over 5 weeks and/or students learn at their convenience and pace via 24/7 subsequent On-demand access"

I'd interpret the above as watch the lessons in real time or watch them after (subsequent) via on-demand access.

Thank you to the original poster - I'll give it a go :)

    There's another schedule during Jan/Feb

  • Thankyou thushan for the workaround. I was able to sign up with nothing but my correct email - all other details were lies. I'm happy to like them in facebook later independently but don't like google or facebook connecting various things together (I have mulitple emails too to help achieve this and the only correct thing in my facebook account is an email address).

And regards the webinars, I had many different date options for between 1800 and 1900 my local time. It is fairly flexible.

  • Below is the course date I chose. Each lesson is available "on demand" 24hrs after the real time lesson is shown

Your registration for Diploma in Photography is complete.
    Start Date 16 November 2015
    Course Dates

    Tuesday 17 November, 2015 ( 6:00 - 7:00)
    Thursday 19 November, 2015 ( 6:00 - 7:00)

    Tuesday 08 December, 2015 ( 6:00 - 7:00)
    Thursday 10 December, 2015 ( 6:00 - 7:00)

If you can’t attend live due to the time difference you will be able to watch the recording of the lesson which will be available to view in the student area 24 hours after the live lesson.

  • My internet isn't the best at the moment, will I be able to accept the course, then in a few months to a year, be able to go through it all?
Or does it expire after a certain point?

    • +1

From looking at the course details it looks like the latest you can do the course is the Jan/Feb 2016 option.
The purchase code expires after 30 days, and once you redeem it, it wants you to choose all your times and dates immediately (or at least it did for me).
You could always go to a library or leech off of a friend with better internet and save money on your internet bill :-)

  • thanks will give it a go!

  • Thanks, I have been looking for a photography course to do, so giving this a try—maybe put my OzBargain camera to use.

Yay, got my diploma, was awesome learnt so much.

    • Definitely quite a good introductory course. I'd done a similar one a couple of years ago so didn't learn a lot but this one explained a few things better. Always a good few tips to be picked up from such courses.

    • Did you pay €5 administration charge to get the certification?

      • Not a chance. Doubt it has any actual value.

        • Then how did you got the certificate?

      • Not a chance. Doubt it has any actual value.
