  Surprisingly, this latest remote doesn't appear to have a code learning function. If this is the case, it would be virtually useless for most people. It's possible they simply forgot to mention the learning function in the blurb, but who knows. I don't know what the 'store up to 15 channels' text on the photo means. A bit random.

  I have four previous model ALDI remotes which have all performed beautifully over the past few years, but they would be useless without the ability to program in new codes. Out of the box, the only device I own that works with the pre-programmed codes is my LG TV, but it only works to set the volume, channel, AV mode and power on/off. No other functions such as settings, program guide, brightness, contrast etc work without learning new codes. My new Astone media box has no pre-programmed codes, so it only works with the learning function. It's highly unlikely that this new model remote would have a code for my Astone box or my PC media centre remote, or my remote lamp dimmer. If it can't learn the codes for these items, it's no use.

  I suggest reading the box carefully before buying one of these, to make sure it has learning capabilities. Then again, ALDI have a 2 months returns policy, so if it doesn't work, take it back for a refund.

  As per their usual Thursday Specials, this remote will only be available from Thursday Feb 4th until stocks run out.
