Aldi 8 in 1 Universal Remote $14.99 from March 27th

50

I have a earlier model of this unit. its over two years old and still going strong. Has worked with every unit I have. DVD, VCR, Stereo, TV, PVR. set Top Box Also you can teach it for any unit not in the pre- programmed list. My model uses AAA batteries that seem to last about a year for each set.

This unit looks like its an upgraded model, with keys better laid out. Worth checking out, but may sell out quickly, so don't leave it too late in the week

Pre-programmed for replacing most popular brand remotes
Integrated learning function
Can be used for up to 8 different audio/video units by direct selection : TV/VCR/DVD/SAT/DSAT/CD/AUX/TAPE

Available in 2 styles

  • this was a great buy. many thanks.

  • I bought one of these today but can't get it to work out of the box with Foxtel IQ (original not IQ2) even though Foxtel codes are listed in the manual. Anybody else have any luck?

It DOES have a learning function, the blurb in the ad just didn't mention it.

The remote seems quite sturdy and the red LED backlight is fantastic, but it's not nearly as easy to program as the previous ALDI model. This version actually has menus that need to be navigated on the LCD panel before a new code can be entered. It's very tedious and it took me about ten minutes to find the correct code for my Sony TV, even with the code search function. I haven't tried the code learning function yet, but if I can't get it to easily work with Foxtel it's being returned tomorrow, not wasting my time learning fifty new commands. It doesn't seem to work with my Sony A/V receiver either, which is a pain.

I'd like to love this remote because it feels very comfortable in the hand and has good button placement. If I can solve the Foxtel problem it could very well replace my older style remote.
