  • Great deal. However, Australia has too many drone rules https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/drone-rules which makes high-end drones useless. Shame on it.

I agree about CASA's rules, and your concern is understandable. But just like the FAA in the US, it's not like we have CASA agents walking around patrolling for drones
The only way CASA finds out about illegal flights, is if you post videos on Youtube, or you fly somewhere that gets the attention of authorities.
If you fly responsibly, not around people, cars, homes, stadiums, airports, government buildings…etc, you'll be fine. I fly around parks, large fields, etc, where there's no people around, the likleyhood of hurting someone will be almost zero.

If I happen to spot someone walking by where I'm flying, I fly in the opposite direction and/or plan for landing. In the end, just be safe. But I still respect anyone's decision not to take that risk

    • The most annoying rule is that you cant fly in National Parks: All parks around sydney are national parks.
On the other hand I do understand the risk of fires in national parks ( difficult access )

  • How about buying drone here and bring it overseas can we fly them outthere? Thinking to get the neo

    • if you are getting the Neo, I would highly recommend the Neo Motion pack with the goggles. So much fun. It's finally on special at JB HiFi. Not sure if that means an updated Neo coming out or not

that googles im afraid will give me motion sickness, i had oculus quest 2 before and cant play anything that involve moving/walking like plane simulator thingie

      • Just bought Neo , wondering if its suitable for Australia as its too light and winds in Australia aren't suitable for such light drones.

Doesn't matter where you buy it from, you just need to read the rules of that country in which you plan to fly in. Some require you to have a permit/licence, third-party insurance, membership, or supervision (spotter). The DJI app tells you this before flying, although it isn't perfect and not always up to date.
