Just received 3 of these in the post today. Easy to connect and had a timer on a light going in a few steps. The app is easy to find and in the small amount of time I have had it is stable. The hardware seems well made and finished. Very happy so far

    • What app does it use - handy to check it out first. Thanks.

I'm using the Aldi hub (connects with home WiFi) with 4 RF power points for $50. That also stores IR (learns from remotes) to operate electronics (tv, aircon, etc) within line of sight of hub & also comes with RF remote to control swiches. Not that fussed with the app, but it's early days.

      • +1

        E-control App it is.

        • Ah, same free app I'm currently using.

      • Would u be able to show me a link to the audi hub that u brought? Those features u just mentioned seems interesting.Im currently using the Belkin WEMO switch. Its good but it slows down my wifi speed since the wemo is wireless g

It was on sale in May for $80, and saw in store in Brisbane a few days back at $50 - what I paid earlier. Additional 4 power points & remote sold for $25 & I bought at $20.

So for $70 got hub & 8 controlled power points. But I mainly use the remote as it's easier than opening the app :-(

BUT it does not have a "last state" memory in the event of power failure. It has to be re-paired with hub/ remote which is annoying.

Search under Bauhn smart power Smart Home Control Pack. Discussion that I didn't know existed. Link to product no longer works.

        • +1

Bauhn-Smart-Home-Control-Pack-HE215041 for downloading manual, app & videos of how to set up unit with same app used in this deal.

The Aldi hub is a rebadged BroadLink unit - same brand as this deal.

Same Hub (without power points) sold by banggood (Broadlink RM-Pro Wi-Fi RF Remote Controller For Smart Home au$47) but OzBargain won't let me provide link & unpublished same comment above with link!

@Infidel: Here is an image instead. I have the Broadlink RM Pro and regularly prank the office with the the heatpumps.

        • @Infidel:
Thx infidel + clear for the links n d review. Looks like a really good deal for a hub n 8 smart sockets. Ill keep an eye out when i head to my local audi!

          @AzNDuDe:
I've only seen 1 in a Brisbane Aldi in months. May go on special again, but wait for price to fall.

  • does it have a "last state" memory in the event of power failure.

    is the output grounded?

    • Yes, after the power failure, it will auto back to working state and connect to wifi.
      The output is safe grounded

  • +2

I'd say that I'm surprised that it doesn't support Windows Phone, but I'm not… :\

  • What is the normal price?

    • Currently au$21.46 in app (14% off).

  • +3

I really want one but cannot think of a practical use for it. Can someone assist with ideas so I can justify the purchase? (It will not take much)

    • Shut down the TV to get the kids off it and into dinner.

      • Your TV doesn't have a remote control?

Uses could include a pool filter, reducing standby power of some devices (my subwoofer amp draws about 20W for example) or security lights but yeah I find these have limited usefulness.

    • remote activate the air-con before you get home, so it's nice and cool when you walk in the door :)

      • Only if
        1) Your air conditioner plugs into a regular wall outlet GPO which is unlikely for a split system these days. An old window rattler would.

        2) Your air conditioner can remember the setting when power is completely disconnected and will automatically turn on when power is reconnected.

        • looks at wall next to me, yes and yes.

Or u can try getting a Logitech Harmony Smart Control touch if ur ac supports IR signals.Thats what im currently doing atm turn on my ac using my phone via 3g using the harmony app

        • Or the $50 Aldi rebadged BroadLink hub I mentioned above with RF & IR control via WiFi, plus 4 controlled power points.

    • Thanks… I bought one, it will enable me to look like I am home while on holiday by randomly turning a few lamps on and off. Also enable me to remotely turn on the slow cooker during the day for perfect corned beef.

  • What does "High quality reply" mean? Do you mean "High quality relay"?

    • +3

A high quality reply would include something witty with relevance and a certain kind of panache in the delivery.

    • Good spotting we appreciate your high quality reply , we will get our team to Photoshop up that typo, as this product might lack reply abilities but it does have a high quality relay.

  • +1

Likely no safety approvals etc. Buyers be aware of this.

    • Are you saying it could be……shonky!?! :P

    • It is RoHS and CE compliant so does meet international regulations

      • Neither of which apply here.

      • but no A-tick or SAA Approval (which apparently another product you sell the orvibo s20-AU has supposedly ….) Just adding as that is important to many people….

        • Does the a.Tick matter of you are importing for personal use? Assuming the CE compliance is genuine.

        • @manic: honestly the only thing that comes to mind is if you had a fire the insurance company won't like it….. but I don't really know :P

        • @manic:
If the CE is real then yeah it's probably ok. Having proper approvals is an indication that it's been designed properly in the first place too so some level of safety. Some of the cheap crap that comes out of China these days can be quite unsafe following none of the rules and regulations.

        • @Shonky: For Clarification, CE Means Conformité Européenne or European Conformity….. a fake CE can mean "China export" as a trick….

Edit: here is a example of difference in logo on some products https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2b/Comparis… ;)

        • @Forfiet:
I am aware of the difference hence the "real" comment although I should have been clearer. The slightly different China Export logo I don't consider "real".

Also I think there's some dispute over what "China Export" really is or if it even exists.

  • Can this socket show amount power consumption for each plugged devices?

    • yea i'm interested in knowing too.

    • No it appears it cannot. There are a couple of more expensive units in the same category that can though.

    • Hi,
Show the power consumption it is another important function, for a $9.99 smart socket it really can't bear it in this tiny body,
but we have broadlink SP-2, it is the upgrade version of SP-mini and meet your need, but with higher price of course, you can find it at SKU291662, you can choose to buy depends on your need :)

  • Is it 240 or 115volts A.C.?

    • Have you looked at the product page? It fairly clearly says it can do both.

  • Hi rep, can you do a deal for this?

    • -4

Completely unrelated product so not really relevant here is it?

      • Butt-hurt much? OP is the rep and that question was directed towards him. No different to other threads with others requesting for deals.

        • -2

          No. Just irrelevant.

      • +1

No rules against asking for a deal on something else. Most reps welcome it and I regularly get it too.

        • -2

Sure until the whole thread fills up with posts asking for deals on something completely different.

They're also off topic in my opinion which is against the rules/guidelines as they add nothing to discussion of the product.

        • +1

@Shonky: The mods find it acceptable unless the store rep doesn't want it.

    • Love the A1 sensor. I've got it in my living room to detect when the light levels reach a certain point and flick on the lights. I haven't tested the air quality part yet though.

  • I want to buy 4x SP mini with the code, but seem like not a very good discount.
    The total was $75.81, only -$5., shouldn't it's be $57.20?

    • Hi, in order to allow everyone to enjoy this deal we have limited the quantity to one per person, this also is a great deal that give us no $'s so are also protected against mass purchases.

  • Thanks ordered one to try out
