At night, most of the people have wifi. The probability of using the quota at night is now.

And a lot of people will be almost/at work or school by 8am…pretty cheeky on Telstra's behalf. Glad I am still on the legacy Cap Encore prepaid deal!

      • stop browsing. start working during work hours ;)

        • I'm at work now…I'm "multitasking".

I 'work' a night shift, so thanks telstra <3

      • And many won't be. For many they could use it for 30 minutes in the morning.

Telstra is exceedingly half-hearted at coming up with deals/specials. "Yay, I get free data at late night/early morning, which I'll end up not using anyway!"

"Yay, uploads aren't counted (when they shouldn't be in the first place)!"

"Yay, $9000/MB excess usage fees have decreased to $8999!"

I wish I owned a business like Telstra with bloated profit margins. Offer shit value products and the suckers buy 'em anyway. Makes a mockery out of businesses that goes to hell and back to minimise costs and pass them onto their customers (eg certain small-to-medium-sized ISPs).

Who are the idiots who decided that privatising Telstra was a good idea?

  • Practical if this is your only source of Internet at home, or are a security guard working overnight who uses their phone to overcome the boredom instead of working.

  • Needs to be 260Gb to mean something. 4G is amazing, but if u empty your monthly quota in seconds, it's pointless.

Other countries have had unlimited data for ages, we are still at telstra's mercy and partying like it's 1999 with 1.3GB/4 GB! per month! lol

      which countries?

    • Checks reality…in 2001 ADSL (512kbps) cost around $100 per GB and that's a fixed line and much slower broadband connection.

3G wasn't even introduced into Australia until 2003.

How many other countries have 4G unlimited connections? They don't in the USA or Japan.

      Crippled 3G may be.

      • Rechecks reality… in 2015, most of Aus is still using ADSL, and the NBN bought telstra's copper and is replacing it with more copper.

Actually a theoretical maxed-out unlimited 3G connection would be a massive step up for almost everyone. Millions would love to cut off their pointless home phone.

        • I'm around 2.5 km from exchange and yeah adsl2+ sucks. Can't wait for nbn connection next month. Hopefully I get 5 times the speed I get now and better than 4g. :)

        • So do you somehow think the major telcos could maintain a reliable network, decent speeds and make a profit by selling unlimited plans but they are just holding back on doing that just to troll us…?

…or maybe, its because wireless networks (currently) do not have the available bandwidth to allow each individual user to be downloading 50, 100, 500gbs ect each per month. (without massive capital investments, and let me guess you wouldn't want to pay more than $10 what you are paying now)

  • What would be nice is if they could actually get our number across to pre-paid from post paid. Two weeks after asking to get it changed it's still not done. No phone or data service available on that number in the mean time. Awesome job Telstra.

    • If you think Telstra's customer service is bad, I bet you Optus wouldn't agree.

  • I paid $7 in hong kong for unlimited 4g data for a week

    • A small territory which makes coverage very easy to do. Also, population is crammed in that small area. Please compare apples with apples. I also miss my 100 mbit fttn connection from Taiwan that only cost 30 Aud a month but I don't dream/complain about not having it here.

    • Country, not just a city.
