      Google?

      Teflon…

      • +3

I could google, but it seemed like something that was so important it needed to be in the title, but I'd never heard of it..

Telfon is PTFE so it's a reasonable question, as even you don't know what it is.

The website won't open for me, but I suspect if it has a non-stick coating, it's still going to be telfon.

Who cooks steak in the oven? Even if you use the grill it's hot enough in a minute.

I love cooking steak in the microwave oven. Delicious top grade marbled steak, on full power for 15 minutes, then served with a few dollops of tomato ketchup. Yumm.

I assume its a joke as 15 minutes in a microwave would make it only good to resole your shoes.

    • Steakinovenians, they're a peculiar bunch.

'Even if you use the grill it's hot enough in a minute.'

Who cooks steak in the grill[er]? Surely the only way to cook a decent steak is in a hot pan, on the stove, with a little bit of oil? A 'few' minutes each side (2 to 5 depending on preference), then rested for a couple of minutes… mmmmm. Steeeak.

    • I was thinking the same.

Are these really that great? I had one years ago - obviously an older model, but looks largely the same - and I found it a real pain to clean after each use. Maybe I was doing it wrong.

But combined with the fact that it produced a lot of smoke in the kitchen, we pretty quickly relegated it to the 'kitchen gimmick' bin.

Anyone have a more favourable opinion here?

      'kitchen gimmick' bin.

      pretty much that, yea.

      • Oh yeah, the cleaning sounds like a lot of work! Thanks for reminding me, was about to get one!

They do make models with removeable plates

I always leave it on and pour water over it or wipe with a wet cloth / paper towel before anything sets.

We have had them for 10 years… dinner complete in 10mins. Cant beat it. In my opinion, you are better to go one with the temperature slider as I find without it it gets too hot and causes smoke. Another tip, put down a piece of baking paper under and on top of the meat then you dont have to spend 5mins cleaning it

      • Baking paper?

        You mean aluminium foil surely?

        • +1

baking paper works - not wax paper but baking paper, always use it on oven trays when doing roasts etc.
