160

On Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2015, you can visit many buildings in Hobart that are normally closed off to public, all for free!

These include Government House, Domain House, Colonial Mutual Life Building rooftop, St David’s Cathedral Bell Tower, and many more.
Some buildings require registration to visit and are limited by capacity so be quick!

Feat. a public rotunda in a public park. My god this city is boring.

    • You've obviously never been. There is also a brewery there.

I live in Hobart and it's boring. I'll go and take a photo tomorrow of the rotunda and save everybody else the trouble

    all for free!

How much does it normally cost to visit these buildings?

This is just an announcement, not a bargain. It belongs in the forums.

    • I am guessing since access is usually restricted, the normal price of entry is priceless. Open Sydney costs $49 for the same on 1 November if that is more of a bargain for you jv.

      • the normal price of entry is priceless.

        It's actually zero. They don't charge entry…

        • Did you mean to post to agree with me. Your comment is rather redundant, just like this one.

Considering the cost of hiring the rotunda (it is kept locked) - straight from the Hobart City Council website - St David's Park Rotunda/Rotunda Function hire:
      under 10 persons - $155.00 per hirer
      over 10 persons - $345.00 per hirer

.. it is a bargain if you get to go in/on it!!

Also Avalon City Retreat goes for $600+ a night, and whilst you don't get to sleep there, you can check out the views etc for free! Bargain! :)

    • Normally it costs men their foreskin to visit the Synagogue.
Unless you already lost yours jv

      Others:
Penitentiary Chapel normally cost about $15.
Markree garden & house: Normally $10. Last year on Open House day, only the garden is free to visit but they still charge fee to visit the house. Not sure what'll happen this year though.
