And much more…
In the intervening year, The Digital Playground, a smaller ‘professional’ based show is held concurrently with the Australian Professional Photography Awards (annual photography judging etc) and is mainly focused on the professional photographer and the high achieving enthusiast. It runs for 3 days as usual, with 3 full days of speakers/education, the APPA’s judging and a smaller exhibition area.

  • Has anyone been to this show and can comment? Is the entrance fee worth it or are we paying to access a showroom essentially.

I attended two years ago when they were issuing free tickets. Didn't listen to any of the talks though. It was like a showroom where you get to handle the gears. Not much by way of freebies.

I don't mind the idea of being paid $5 to go to a show, sign me up.

    • Haha, that's an awesome interpretation, I had to think about your comment for a few seconds there :)

i use to go when entry was free
if you decide to go - maybe take usb stick / cd etc. to print off some free photos
they use to have this when i use to go

maybe ask a couple of friends - one goes 1 day & the other goes the other day
as then the ticket is cheaper

    ticket price is less - $ 5
but you have to pay the $ 1 free

    enjoy

I went today - it's pretty poor. No Canon, no Sony. Plenty of consumer stuff, not a lot of pro gear.

Glad I didn't pay for my ticket, no matter what it cost.
