Why is that anything with Oracle in front is so expensive!

    • +1

It was prophesied to be expensive.

  • No BES920 that I can see :(

    • Awesome price on the grinder though

      • Yes, best I've seen by miles. That's a 'must buy' for anyone making their own coffees at home - short of a much more expensive European grinder. The Smart Grinder can lift your home coffees to good cafe level (if you use decent recently roasted beans).

      • Still waiting on my grinder from the previous BES920 deal, Good guys have proven to be fairly incompetent…

        • Would that be Good Guys, or Breville. The grinder is a 'bonus' isn't it, so supplied after you buy the 920. Or is it supposed to come together?

    • +1

It is (I have one), though I wouldn't turn my nose up at the BS920, or even a Sunbeam 6910, with a Smart Grinder (sell the grinder that comes with the Sunbeam) - (I have that combo at GF's place). Whichever combo suits your budget.

Then get yourself a Behmor coffee bean roaster, green coffee beans at $9-12 kg and you're laughing.

  • Argh so tempting to get one and sell my Expobar.

  • Sad they don't have Breville BEP810BSS as good as the last deal from HN.

    • still waiting for that deal to come back

$1800 a bargain !? Is that a joke post? +1 more for the grinder though.

    • It is a bargain considering its features and rrp.

      • Feature is that it grinds, pumps hot water and heats milk :) Same as the $500 model above. A discount is not a bargain.

So $1300 extra for some minor features, and questionable aesthetics. OK if you are that rich, but a bargain? No.

        • So with what you said we cannot call a special deal for a $15,000 car a bargain.

        • @superforever:

Thats a cheap car. You mean a discounted $150k car? But cars are status symbols - functionality is irrelevant in the high end.
Whereas coffee machines … ah, I see where you are going with this.

        • @manic:

Coffee machine is the same, some people will pay several thousand $$ for a coffee machine which do the same things as the $500 one.

        • @superforever:

Yes and cars do the same thing: get from A to B. They all cost different amounts of money because of the FEATURES they have. What is your point?

        • @serpserpserp:

The point is manic said $1800 for a coffee machine is not a bargain and compare it with a $500 one.

        • +1

          @superforever:

Well it is all relative Manic. Maybe he is trolling?

        • @serpserpserp:

Indeed it is relative. The context here is this website - what do people who come here want? Is there a significant overlap between Ozbargain readers and BES980 buyers?

Compare the votes on this deal to the grinder https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/215068 and I think you have the answer.

  • Great price considering RRP, but no matter how good the machine is, with my beginners barista skill, it won't taste any good I guess. Will come back to you when my skill is worthy.

i would save $600 by buying a 920 and learning to tamp and texture milk myself
