    anyone know if galvanised steel is suitable for part-outdoor use i.e. in an area that is under cover outside, but may get some water on it?

      Yep, the galvanised steel frame should be fine, but the MDF shelves are a whole other matter…

        just paint them with a good primer and an outdoor paint…

      Just put a tarp over it with some bricks on top, should be fine.

    This one is OK but I wouldn't call it heavyduty, I have 3 similar ones. Also you can find second hand ones on Ebay for around $20. I bought around 10 bookcases/shelves in the past 6 months for storage, all on Ebay.

    I actually bought 5 last year when they had a sale to put them inside my shed, and I am going to buy 6 more tomorrow because they are quite good (and to match my other 5 so I can have storage shelf around my shed :)

    Too bad I am actually away from home at the moment.
