Yes, it has about 15 different levels of brightness with the lowest being completely off.

How strong is the DC45?
I think I remember someone saying that in terms of normal mode, it's on par with DC59, whereas turbo mode wise, DC59 is far better.
Don't quote my words on it though. My gf did say that DC45 was not that bad compared to DC59, I am not sure how much she meant by that though.

Damn good deal for the basic Kindle. Although presumably at some point you'll regret not getting a Paperwhite for the backlight (like me).
