Saw it on Vodafone's website — Nokia N97 free on $59 cap over 24 months contract (minimum commitment $1416). You also get 1 free month access fee, and choose between free unlimited evenings/weekends, or unlimited best mate, or 100 free TXT.

Seems to be quite cheap for Nokia's flagship phone.

  • Includes 500MB of data in the plan too. Good deal but I was surprised to see N97's going for $550~ BNIB on eBay, always thought they were far dearer.

Now only if they had a good cap for the HTC Touch HD2..

  • They are great phones - Ive had mine with Optus since they were released middle of last year.
I would suggest anyone interested to do their research though as there have quite a few problems with them ie camera lens scratching and gps signal.
Most of these issues are resolved now with the newer handsets and the latest firmware.
Also an N97 Mini has been released overseas - not sure when it will make its way to Australia though

  • +5

Do not buy this handset, period. As an owner of an N97, I wouldn't want anyone to suffer the horror that you'll be experiencing with one of these.

Take a look on the Nokia forums and all the good Symbian blogs, and you'll get reports from users all across the globe who hate this handset with a passion.

And if you do take up this offer, don't say you weren't warned.

  • Yeh N97 has its fair share of problems. Would recommend the E72 instead if you are looking for a nice smart phone.

  • I'm guessing they're doing this to make warehouse room for the nexus one. I hope so at least b'cos I can't wait to get my hands on it.

  • N series = FAIL

    E series = more decent .

PLEASE UNDERSTAND .. that the n97 is epic fail . ALL SHOW NO GO .

it WILL NOT LAST YOU LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG . i can assure you this . :)

  • It's sad too that the N900 isn't going to make it to Australia. That one seems to have fixed all the problems with the N97. But alas, you have to buy it elsewhere.

  • im quite happy with my n97.
Have very few issues, had to format it once but apart from that ive done quite a few things with it that im quite happy with. Currently on a $79 plan for 24 months but im happy with it so it doesnt matter.
