Is this the new model ?

    • The new new model is releasing tomorrow ( as per the grapevine ) , explains the trickle of deals and we may see much more once the new model is launched …

      • +2

I think it's being announced tomorrow. Given the lack of leaks on how it looks, I suspect it'll be released two weeks later or so with presales possibly going up around the time of the iPhone.

        • yeah u r right , I meant announced , but put in as released =O

The newest money can buy right now….

        • +2

          Yes

        • @jv: Which?

        • @Domingo:

Which TV? I got a Panasonic.

        • @jv: He meant your content I gather :)

        • @jv:

Note the mention of 4K content and the complete lack of any reference to TV

          what I've taken myself…

@jv: You took someone's Panasonic TV? That is stealing

        • @Domingo:

          That is stealing

          They gave it to me.

        It will not.

Rumour is it won't, which I think is crazy given the iPhones rumoured to support 4K and by the end of the year the MacBook Air will likely be their only Mac that hasn't got a display with a resolution greater than 1080p. I'd like to see iTunes, and the Apple TV along with it, supporting higher resolutions even if most living rooms won't have a 4K TV today. UHD TV sets are somewhat affordable now and a very viable option for anyone buying a set over the coming year. Also the systems supposed to be powerful enough to run games, so it should have more than enough processing power for 4K content.

        Hopefully the rumours wrong.

New Model should be coming out tomorrow expect it to be priced at $199 or $229 AUD as the rumours point towards a $149 USD price point.

    • +2

Not tomorrow mate, Thursday our time.

      • +1

It'll be out a week or so later.

    • Considering the exchange rate and GST a RRP of $249 AUD is probably more likely.

My TV does all this already

      Which TVs support AirPlay?

      • Samsung TV / Samsung phone. Streams from the phone. Not that its any use, only idiots would do that.

        • -1

I stream content from ABC iView on my phone several times a week.

I'm really happy with the one I got from COTD recently. Kids play room - swapped out an old mac that only ran PHT - now run the plex connect trailers hack for Plex and they now have a good Netflix client and other stuff. Being a NON itunes content household, this still works well for us. Thinking of swapping out the old mac mini on the main TV now.

    • I should have another go I could never get the plex connect hack to work.

      • Yep agree with that. Apple TV is stable, the fact that there's no app store is a pain in the arse. Netflix US is easy to setup on ATV3. Plex is too difficult … it should just be a matter of installing the app. Hopefully the new one isn't this locked down. If the new Apple TV has this, I'll be cancelling my Tronsmart order.

Interesting that they looking at gaming on the new one , I think might do better than Pippin :-)

    • Might have Ping integration too ;)

    • Will it have Tetris and digger?

  • http://www.techly.com.au/2015/09/03/apple-tv-latest-specs-an… - doesn't look like a time to buy an Apple TV, nor an iPhone.

  • +1

I bought the Apple tv years ago for less money than this. To me the Apple tv was outdated a couple of years ago. It's still better than chromecast though.

  • great deal for those who dont need a new gaming console which is what new Apple TV will be

    • +1

you don't know what it will be (until it is announced).. it could have hardware for home automation and become your new hub
