  • The great thing is (at my local store at least) they also offer these at 4 for $25. Can't go wrong!

  • good deal i bought a cable from kmart last week for 15…i do need one for the ps3 i have incoming and am just wondering from someone with some knowledge whether i need to get a better cable or what ?? 1.3 i know there is 2.0 i think…do i get that? i plan on watching bluray etc an some games on my tv tho i do get a bit of drag on fifa it is a series 5 samsung 37 inch lcd i was also wondering if this is the cable????

There is no HDMI 2.0 standard yet, perhaps you're confusing it with Blu-ray Profile 2.0 (entirely different and fully compatible with HDMI 1.3b).

The drag or motion blur you are experiencing has nothing to do with the cable and more to do with the television. Try enabling features like "Movie Plus" if available.

Bottom line - no need for a better cable.

      • Maybe try disabling Movie Plus - I think it's on by default and I believe it adds extra frames to try and smooth out the motion - something you don't want in gaming.

what happened to $5 including shipping deals for these hdmi cables? You can get these from ebay for this price including shipping.

    • +1

actually the cheapest on ebay atm is $1(+$4.99p&h) shipped from hong kong
but many buyers have complained about up to 4 weeks shipping, but then again it is international from hong kong…..

    • That's from Hong Kong.
Takes very long time for delivery

      good price tho!

    • +1

thanks for that. Bought 3 for under $10. :)

    NOT A BARGAIN.

batteryshack.com.au has it at $5.95 delivered and it's not international, it's local :)

    • I've made 2 orders from batteryshack for HDMI cables. Can't go wrong for less than ~$6 delivered. $9.95 is an OK price but not really a bargain. There are other places that offer HDMI cables for around $5 from time to time.

You mean I didn't need to spend $200 each on the Monster HDMI cables?

batteryshack have a dodgy website… I was able to view names and addresses of existing customers.

The website also shows it is -10 days to christmas… lol

Just went to the Sydney CBD store and the guy there told me that these cables don't have the necessary shielding to prevent interference from power cables. He said if you run this cable parallel to you TV power cable there will be interference. So, depending on your setup you might want to look for something else.

Funny, I run my cable next to my PS3, below my PS3 is a myriad of power cables. I brought a pretty cheap HDMI cable from DX so I doubt it was anything fantastic…

Trust me I work in the elec service industry and a cable and will NEVER improve picture quality. Monster cables are a sales and marketing gimmick.

      • Was in myer the other day and overheard the sales person trying to sel the customer a $55 hdmi cable for whatever he had purchased. It gave me a smile to see the customer was smart enough to decline the offer.

    http://www.jamellcables.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=35&pro…

Around the same price at Jamell HDMI cables. 8.95pp for a 2m HDMI cable.

    • Very good deal too, with free delivery. Would this Jamell cable be better quality than the Jaycar one?

The 4 for $25 deal from Jaycar is still really good, if you could do with more than 1.

      • +1

quality of the cable at the moment means nothing, well not until there's something that can affect digital signals in your living room. Maybe you might want gold plated heads, if your padantic about quality, but that's about as far as you should worry.

I'm currently using 2 cables i bought of the streets of vietnam (aka dodgy china made) for about $1.50 each and they work perfectly.

  • My brother was just in JayCar, and they were telling him that the $9.95 cable has no sheilding, so you could get interference from power cables. And the guy was trying to sell him a $25 cable which did have the sheilding.

Well according to the JayCar website and this thread, this $9.95 cable has triple layer sheilding.

My brother bought the $9.95 one after i read a few posts from this thread, and the description from the JayCar site.

What do you reckon? This JayCar salesman was full of crap, trying to up sell based on lies (or ignorance)?
