not a bad deal. Although after pulling apart a wireless dongle, they're not worth eveb $20 lol
pos from me cos it will pull the prices down on all of them to a more realistic price.

I'll pay you $49 to build me one. :D

  • not available at all stores ,but seems like a good deal

  • Great timing, is it possible I can use this dongle with the telstra sim card offer if I unlock the dongle?

    • +1

Probably doesn't support 850MHz Next G, and would be locked to vodafone anyway.

    • I have an unlocked BigPond / Telstra 7.2 USB modem and unactivated SIM (u don't have to use this SIM) in the box that I've only used a couple of times with a SIM from my Telstra phone.

Here is a link to the product, it's a Sierra Wireless 880U

I'd be happy to sell it to you or anyone else for $59 if you want it, just leave me a message.

  • how much to unlock this?

    Does it come with credit?

    • Good question.. it doesn't say from what I can see except to say…

"Credit expires after 30 days unless you recharge in that time. Max 14GB can be accumulated."

      • Just activated mine and I have 1024mb credit and 15 sms :)

  • Good price, I only got one the other day for $79 with 1 Gb

  • does it come with 1GB?

on the vodaphone website they are showing this dongle for sale for the full price of $99 and you get 1GB data if active before 31.12.2009

This looks to be the same thing with the $40 discount.

So yeah looks like for $59 you get a dongle with 1GB data if active before end of today.

But its likley locked to vodaphone.

but good price for a USB broadband dongle.

*EDIT: also to keep this service ongoing it will cost you:
    $29 for 1GB
    $49 for 3GB
    $100 for 6GB

EDIT 2: Unlock fee is $75

  • Does any one know the model number of this dongle? Is it the K3715 on the vodafone website? The photo in the ad looks like Vodafone K3520.

And does any know of the difference between the 2? I suspect the K3520 is the older model?

EDIT: btw, the saving is probably only $20 DSE and Officeworks both sale the K3520 for 79.

    • Got it from Coles, Hornsby.
It is a K3765 with microsd slot.
Going to try to unlock it for $5.
If it works, going to buy more (2 left in shop)

      • Yep mines a K3765 too. Coles Southern River have atleast 4 left (WA).

  • just bought 1 from West Perth Harvey Norman for $58 (price guarantee)
    HV marked price is $128.
    model: K3520 USB White

  • Would be good if Vodafone actually had 3G anywhere near me :(

Bought my iPhone from them because they were getting 3G "next month"… almost a year later, still nothing. Can't break my contract even though they sold it to be on false terms as they'd simply deny ever telling me that (should have got her to write it down and sign it, stupid me for forgetting I was talking to a salesperson making commission!).

Wonder how much data I can chew through a month at 1kb/s lol. Takes minutes of loading time just to check my emails, argh!

  • got a K3765 today, does any one know what is the difference between 3765 and 3520 and 3715?

on the bottom of the 3765 box, it just says

    Features
    Network: HSDPA/HSUPA/UNTS/900/2100 7.2Mbps modem.

    • perhaps look on the manufacturers website rather than vodafone site.

      • The Huawei site is abit of a mess,

        however I did find

        http://www.alibaba.com/product-free/103947192/Huawei_K3520_W…

        for the K3520

and it seems that the difference is that the K3520 is a single band 2100 3G (Triband GPRS) while the K3765 is a duoband 900/2100 (Quadband GPRS).

EDIT: and the 3520 doesn't support HSUPA.

        can any one confirm?

  • After unlocking K3765, a non-Vodafone SIM card was put into K3765.

Three programs were tried with the following results
    (x) Vodafone Mobile Connect -> Please insert correct sim
    (x) Mobile Partner -> The device has been disconnected or is unavailable
    (o) Dialup -> I can connect with non-Vodafone SIM card

The bottom line is, do not waste your time trying Vodafone Mobile Connect and Mobile Partner with unlocked K3765.

    • I can't get anything but Vodafone Mobile Connect to work in Windows 7 32bit. What OS did you get Dialup working on? I'll probably go back to XP/Linux dual boot on my netbook anyway.

  • For comparison purpose
    The unlocked K3765 (7.2/384) costs $59 + $5 (unlocking fee) = $64

You can also purchase unlocked Huawei modems from Exetel
    https://www.exetel.com.au/hspa_order/residential_online_form…
    Huawei E1762 Modem (7.2/384) costs $165
    Huawei E160e Modem (3.6/384) costs $95

Not bad to get a 7.2/384 Huawei modem for $64
    Exetel's 7.2/384 Huawei is $165

3.6/384 and 7.2/384 make no difference to me at the moment
I tested 3 sim card and Vodafone sim card, and results were
    3 sim card : 1.2Mbps
    vodafone sim card : 1.98Mbps
both results are well under 3.6Mbps
