KEYSMART Swiss Army Style Key Holders: 15% OFF Storewide Coupon Today (Apply after Checkout)

22
NOBULK15

So basically, these are like a swiss army knife of keys. Have all your keys on the one swiss army type holder, with a ring included for additional keys/remote.

"Constantly annoyed with thigh poke, key jingle, and damaged pants, Mike set out to design a solution to the bulky key ring. After months of prototyping, testing, and redesigning, KeySmart was born. The frame was crafted out of aluminum to be ultra lightweight, and the hardware was milled from stainless steel to survive anything life threw at it. After launching on Kickstarter in early 2013, KeySmart was one of the most popular products ever launched. Mike quit his job to take KeySmart on full time and has been making happy customers ever since."

The "basic" model KeySmart 2.0 (in Blue) is US$19.98 before discount. This takes 2-10 keys.

      You forgot to use bold

    • Of every single item?

  • Put price in title…

  • From $19.98 US (before discount)

  • Bought this at full price, love it. No more noise from my keys & it saves a lot of space in your pocket.

Not sure if 15% is enough of a deal though

  • +4

Not sure who copied who but you can get similar or same looking designed ones on eBay for like $4.
    Search for: aluminium key holder

Although may not be made in USA but not sure if it's worth paying 6-7x the price.

  • Appears to be the same as the Gearbest model for all of $4

People should save their money and check out the link below.

    http://www.gearbest.com/home-gadgets/pp_231804.html

Keep in mind too if you have an actual key for your car it wont fit in one of these cheap devices.

      not same model.

      gearbest screw is smaller

      • Most likely to circumvent the patent.

    • The "aluminium" is thinner on that model, and the screw heads have less depth.
Plus the material on the gearbest knock-off is an aluminium alloy, NOT aircraft grade aluminium.
Add also that the hardware on the Keysmart is stianless steel, the gerabest only states material as aluminium alloy.

So the gearbest model is likely more prone to bending, not a great feature given they will likely be in your pocket. The screw heads more prone to damage from tightening/loosening due to shallower groove depth, and the screws themselves more prone to shearing if they are aluminium fasteners. Not to mention the much lower tensile porperties of aluminium fasteners.

You can get some goodyear eagles on your car or buy Bob Jane all rounders. They are both tyres. Doesn't make them the same thing.

How do you know it is a knock-off though?
There are plenty of products online which claim to be the first to design it, but turns out it was copied from some product in China or somewhere else.

Wonder if they have any patents for the design which would prove they are the first ones…..

if you did want aircraft grade though…. Its around $15.

        • True,

if they got a patent, then I doubt they (ebay sellers) can sell it.

I also bet the ebay ones would do the job good enough.

If not we can get paypal resolution and refund.

        • They didn't have to be the first to design it, just the first to patent it. That's the beauty of patent law.

Unfortunately enforcing a patent is another thing altogether, and would likely be more costly than it is worth in a case like this.

        • @lplau : Thanks for the link, I am emailing the ebay seller now to get more information on the thickness for comparison.

        • @Tiggrrrrr: It's ozbargain here, is it really worth the extra .1mm or what ever it is, for the price premium.

Either way it will become scratched and worn down etc etc.
Is it better to just buy a heap of the $3 ones and just throw them away when they are no longer cosmetically pretty. It shouldn't BREAK that quickly compared to the USA one.

You can buy 10 of the cheap ones for the same price you buy 1 of the USA ones, I highly doubt that the single 1 from USA can beat the 10 in terms of total life span.

        • @lplau: I wasn't talking about 0.1mm, I was talking about 1mm versus 0.6mm. 1mm is about 1.7 times stronger than 0.6mm.

Again, I am not disputing that buying cheap ones is an alternative. Just stating that one is stronger than the other.

As for longevity, force per unit area (stress) means that the 1mm has 1.7 times higher basic allowable stress than the 0.6mm one. And that is just considering equivalent material. If we say one is 1100 and one is 6061 (Yeild of 90 vs 28), then this 1.6 changes to just over 5 times. So again, you are correct, for the cost, you can buy 10 and still be ahead.

Last time I checked, the aluminium used in aircrafts (aka Aircraft Grade) was an alloy… its the alloying elements in metals that give them the desired properties…

        • Sorry, to clarify, Aluminium alloy is most commonly something like Aluminum alloy 1100. Which is considerably weaker than alloy 6061, which is generally what I would expect when referencing aircraft grade aluminium. However, given that neither company has stated the exact alloy it has used I will concede your point.

  • Problem with these key holder is you still need to connect your car key + alarm to it.

You will lose one key slot if u use the car fob loop.

These one have the loop built in

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Aluminum-Key-Holder-Organizer-Cli…

    • You can get one of These if you want to connect keys. There are also a bunch of other accessories here

      • no thanks

these are way overpriced, when I can get something on ebay for only about $3.

I know they give u a key loop, but like I said it waste a key slot.
They ebay one has a built in loop.

I got a titanium Keysmart as an impulse buy. Paid about AU$60 delivered with the extension. Great product, but I think the sub $10 would do just as good a job.

    • Maybe, but different material of construction as well as thickness would suggest less strength in the sub-$10 model.

      • It is hard to tell because you never bought the ebay ones…

so it might be strong enough.

If not u can still complain to ebay, and get a refund.

  • I bought this 1-2 months ago. Love it a lot except for the wrong colour choice (the pink colour is too light, more like metallic pink than solid pink). I would get another plate colour unfortunately with the current exchange rate, it's a bit too pricey.

Extremely poor choice of metals… mixing stainless and aluminium

    • I'm not sure that galvanic corrosion was their main concern, although it is probably something they should mention to people purchasing. ie don't take these swimming.
