I used the service 2 seasons ago; the image quality was decent but the stream reliability was a bit sketchy. Occasionally, the stream would stop and you would have to reload the page altogether. Not sure if it has improved since then.
PremierLeaguePass has full hd quality however they are quite smart, easily detect if you are using their services outside of NZ. My account just got suspended and refused to refund me.
I signed up via Taiwan. $5 a month. Service is good but you can't cast to ChromeCast. Hard to cancel as they don't have a cancellation button or anything on their site… I'll have to email them sometime (but I uninstalled Hola once I found out it uses some of your bandwidth for everyone else).
@Storm:
How did you get $5/month?!
I found they could defeat Hola and didn't give me a lower price. Also tried a VPN in Taiwan and still no go.
PRICE in title
Are there any prerequisites for this deal?
I'm assuming that a fox sports subscription is required? What is the cost for the remaining 9 months of the EPL season?
Cheers
Looks like you need a subscription to the Advertiser.
You don't need Fox sports, its an online service. You only get 4 games a week though, the remainder is "on demand" (i.e. watch a replay of the game).
yeah thats a shame about the subscription. was keen until i figured that out :(
I use Getflix + the NZ based 'premier league pass'. Every game streamed live in HD.
So good.
How much does that work out?
Have you been using it last season? I've read on forums that they perform billing address checks or something and ban accounts, so I'm a bit hesitant to use PLP…
Yeah i have been banned luckily it was towards the end of the season
Same. Banned in last 2 weeks of last season.
Just went with Foxtel this year - can't be arsed with the cloaks and daggers stuff anymore!
It seems StarSports are offering free streaming. I signed up with them for the Cricket World Cup but I just went to check on their EPL prices but it says from 22nd of August their streams are free but I'm not too sure if this will include EPL.
The replay is working great, free and HD. I like highlights listed in the time bar to easily jump to. Will have to wait until the next game to see if live streaming is available but it was for the paid product, so don't see why not!
Hey - nice one for the heads up on this.
Do you need a VPN / DNS setup when you had your Cricket subscription?
Yeah, I used Getflix but I think most smart DNS services include StarSports.
Thanks for that. I have Getflix so I'll give it a whirl.
I will have to also open an Indian iTunes account to get the iOS app.
It was surprisingly easy to setup an Indian iTunes account. I found the app to be prone to pauses and crashing once every 30 mins or so on the iPad 2 though. If you're looking to use it to watch the Cricket be aware that you'll probably get Indian commentators(still in English), could be looked at as a bonus compared to the Australian ones though.
This thing is mediocre. I've had it for two seasons in a row and as a Newcastle fan having Newcastle games scheduled to be broadcasted live was really rare. Sometimes big games won't broadcast live. For 49 bucks I think this is a good deal. Mint quality and it doesn't lag on ADSL 2+ (I get about 8mbps)
as a fellow newcastle fan, I feel your pain. this season I bit the bullet and got foxtel. Quality was good with on demand but not listing at the start of the season which games would be live (for the whole season) is the killer.
+1 Newcastle fan :)
I found a family member who has Foxtel and use their Foxtel Go logins. Foxtel Go has access to all the games, average stream quality but does the job.
HWTL
As a Saints fan, let me say you guys played very well in the first game of the season. Got some great players.
And the addition of Florian Thauvin, thumbs up!
Newcastle fan here! Didn't think there was any of us around!
Another Geordie fan here too!
Howay the lads!
Can the TV Box like WelTV or TVpad 4 receive the EPL live ?
kodi work just fine for me
Which add-on do you use bud? PS Newcastle fan too! hWTL
vdut25 usually works the best for me..but be warned you need at least about 5mb to watch the basic SD smoothly…10mb+ download is ideal..
thanks Dealma, I hope this works out for me…my plan is to join +Rewards which costs $3.50/week, they debit 4 weeks in advance as soon as you join…get the EPL On Demand for $49 and then cancel the +Rewards subscription, according to their T&C's they will partially refund you if you cancel before the end of your paid time. So, in total I'll spend $53 and hoping for a partial refund.
I had the EPL On Demand service last season and I think its good enough for the price, I rarely watch the live games as they are usually at odd times but definitely enjoy the On Demand matches and weekend reviews.
Going to this page says it's $1 for the first 28 days.

I already have a News subscription since I subscribe to AFR, so I don't know if the above actually is correct.
EDIT: Turns out my AFR subscription is not valid, so I ended up paying the $1 Advertiser subscription and that allowed me to redeem the EPL reward.
So you paid $1 to subscribe, got the EPL reward, then unsubscribed for free?
Was the process smooth? Seriously considering this. Thanks btw.
Yea I did that and subscribing process was smooth, I paid using Paypal.
However the unsubscribing process requires you to ring them up, I'll probably set myself a reminder and ring them up in about a week.
@bikuta: do u still get access to the epl contents after un-subbing them? and do u get a separate login from foxtel for epl on demand?
@going nowhere: I actually signed up just then through the method bikuta outlined. When you sign in to the foxsports EPL on Demand page, its through the email you used to sign up with the Advertiser.
When I call them up tomorrow to cancel the subscription, I will check whether or not I still will have access to epl on demand and report back.
Edit:
Just took a skim through the T&Cs and read this -
If you are paying a discounted price for the Service as a +Rewards or other benefit of being a subscriber to a service supplied by News, then the following provisions apply despite anything else in these terms and conditions:
a. News may cancel Your access to the Service if your related News membership or subscription is cancelled (and provided the cancellation is not due to your breach of any membership or subscription terms, News will pay you a refund on a pro rata basis for any unused days);
@nigelixtiti: thanks for the info nigelixtiti…looking forward to hearing from you tmr cos I am really interested in signing up for the epl on demand…
@going nowhere: Called them up just then and cancelled my subscription. My Fox Sports EPL subscription is still in place and will not be effected. Also, I will get a refund of $0.93 for days I did not use my Advertiser subscription xD.
Long story short, do it guys! :)
@nigelixtiti: awesomeeeee….thanks for reporting it back man…i m gonna do the sign up tonight…
ah sh*t…I paid the $14 for their subscription…anyway I'm planning to unsubscribe tomorrow so hoping for a decent refund
Let us know how you go after unsubscribing.
Any one can compare the quality of streams to NBC sports - Live Extra and PremierLeaguePass?
