NetGear D7000 AC 1900 ADSL/VDSL Dual Band Modem Router $261.75 @ The Good Guys

110

Usually seen for around the $349 mark, this is the cheapest by a long way on Staticice. Combine with the Click and Collect deal for $20 store credit if your local has one in stock.

  • Simultaneous dual band 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz
  • Five (5) 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Ports with auto-sensing technology
  • Supports ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ and VDSL/VDSL2

Seems to be a decent all-in-one unit for a great price.
Deal ends today (19th August) so get in quick.

    • That's router only, not the ones with adsl built in like this ones.

    • I've seen that router ( (R7000) as low as $199 at MSY/Umart (So a possible Officeworks price match for 5%) but it's just the router.

This is the all-in-one unit with the modem (D7000).

Just note that ADSL2+ will become useless if NBN is or soon being installed in your area as aren't they disconnecting the copper lines?. The VDSL feature in it may be useful on NBN FTTN. So if you are soon getting FTTN or already on it this will be the modem/router to get.

  • Is this what I will need for FTTN?

    • +1

It's VDSL2+ compatible so should* be suitable for that.

I think* that if you're lucky enough to have FttHome rather than the node, you might only need the router-only version, but don't take that as truth until you've checked.
Round my way, the only fibre we have is in my All-Bran. :-(

*I'm no networking expert, just a regular bargain hunter.

      • thx. FTTN here in October apparently

        • +1

          Nice.

I'm moving mid-next year, so this unit should see me OK for wherever I end up living.
And in the meantime, it's probably a bit overkill for the TCaS* infrastructure but at least I'll get a decent wireless signal out to the shed.

VDSL is being deployed into FTTN so the VDSL feature in this model may be useful.

          "The NBN and Vectored VDSL

Here in Australia NBN Co has already conducted a pilot using Vectored VDSL – achieving download speeds of close to 100Mbps – and plans to deploy the technology in our extensive FTTN construction trial which we are conducting with Telstra.

Deploying Vectored VDSL on our FTTN network will enable us to provide access to improved broadband speeds to several million Australian homes far quicker – and with much less disruption to residents – than we could with a full FTTP rollout."

        • @hollykryten:

Cool, thanks for that. I'd kinda gathered that was what the plan was, but nice to see it from the proper source.

Your correct.. I run the R7000 on NBN.

Cheers OP! I just had OW price match for $248.66. No $20 store credit like your post, but trigger pulled!

    • Receipt please!?

    • Thanks going to do the same and buy from OW because GoodGuys website is crap. I entered my post code and it said there were no stores within 200km of me, so I entered the post code of the store 2 suburbs over and it said there was no store within 200km of that post code too. If I owned a GoodGuys franchise i'd be fuming that they were losing customers.

      • +1

yeah i tried the same thing, but then tried another product and stores showed up. I am assuming that "No Stores Within 200km" translates to "No Stores with Stock Within 200km"

    • +1

Good job there! OW seem to have much better stock levels too.

  • I wonder is there any modem or hardware I can create multiple Wireless login and monitor their data usage and restricted access to certain websites?

    • +2

Is that you Kim Jong Un?

    • +1

      Should be, yeah.
I know my old modem router allows multiple SSIDs and has parental controls and the like and a quick flick through the manual shows that this one does the same sort of thing. How easy or reliable it is, I couldn't say. You could roll your own solution with DD-WRT, Tomato or OpenWRT probably, but I'm waaaaaaayyy outta my depth here.

TBH, this is probably a question better suited for the forums or even Whirlpool.

I will say that knowing the average kid, any technological solution to this sort of thing is usually quickly and easily circumvented and a social solution (parenting skills or a workplace use policy) is needed as well.

      • Thank you.

  • Price display $349 on the site, any ideas? price on title are a bit misleading.

    • Offer has apparently ended then. I checked the link and it was showing at the $261 price, refreshed the page and it was up to $349.

I'll mark it as expired. Thanks for letting me know.

Bah, saw the deal and checked the prices, put pants on to pop over to Officeworks, about to leave I loaded up the the Good Guys page on my phone and saw they'd raised the price.

Great deal while it lasted :)

        • +1

put pants on to pop over to Officeworks,

          Well, there's ya problem.

        • Early bird gets the worm. You procrastinate you lose out that's why those who went to OW this morning got it and those who waited lost out.

        • +1

@hollykryten: You're right, hollykryten. Just like the time I could have got a Netgear D7000 at Officeworks for $248.66. The entire day, I kept saying, "I'll go a little later, I'll go a little later…" And when I got there, they told me the deal just expired. And when I asked the Officeworks guy if it'll ever come back again, he said he didn't know. Well, I'm never going to let something like that happen again!

        • +1

@Thrift: Yeah I had to wait until lunch because I work. By then it was all over.

        • @Okibi:

You should have just bought it online from TGG and got it delivered for only $5 delivery. At least wouldn't have missed out on the deal. A lot of the times these super deals only last for a few hours and that's it.

        • +1

@hollykryten: I don't hear anyone whining that it isn't fair they missed out. We appreciate that NoPantsToday posted an awesome deal despite missing it.

I'm in the market for a new modem to replace my ageing Billion. I was going to go down the separate component route with a Draytek modem, but a great deal on an all-in-one would work just as well. I'm not in any rush, there will always be another deal.

        • +1

          @Thrift:

We appreciate that NoPantsToday posted an awesome deal despite missing it.

Cheers. :-) Just sharing the luck. Paying back for some of the awesome deals I've got from here.

And yeah, there's always another deal. Always.

Example: D7000 + 1Tb SSHD + Logitech Z50 speaker for $399 (+ shipping) on the Shopping Express trifecta deal. Not the best, but if you're in the market for other stuff, could work out well.

I don't see anyone getting stressed about missing out. A better deal will happen, or a newer model come out. It's not like Mr. T's in town or anything.
