  • seems to be p2p/torrent friedly, anyone used it? experiences please??

    • Yeah, I use it, but I haven't used the VPN yet, so I have torrented anything with it. But I have used the dns proxy for accessing the US Netflix content, and that works without a hitch (speed isn't affected either), on my ps3 and pc, although my samsung galaxy tablet does have some issues every now and then with the proxy, and it doesn't show the US content. Although I assume configuring my router with the proxy will (hopefully) solve this.

So all in all, I am content with the service, despite paying almost double the above price for a year's subscription.

EDIT: I only use it for netflix, but I feel like I could get a lot more out of it, but I'm just haven't been bothered to research into it yet. If anyone has some more info on using proxies and VPNs then please chime in

  • 14 day free trial.

I use Getflix myself which I got on super special back in June. Tried unsuccessfully to get them to match price for a second account so started looking elsewhere. And surprise, surprise, special pricing at SmartDNSproxy does not appear to be advertised but appears inside your account after signing up to trial. Looks to have many of the same features as Getflix. Less DNS proxy locations though with only one in Australia.

Both owned by the same company I believe, Google 'Çakınberk Telekominikasyon Internetser.Hiz.Lim.Şti. ' gives results for them both.

      • Well spotted.

    • Signed up for the trial but the discounts listed under Profile are:

    • If you don't need a VPN have a look at dns4me.net which is $24.96 annually and allows 3 IPs, so no need for extra accounts for other houses or laptops when you travel.

      • So I can share one account with a friend/family member living elsewhere? Anybody tried this and seen if there's issues with US Netflix?

  • Decent deal, I was looking at Smart Dns Proxy as well as cactus VPN before I chose the free smart DNS solution (TV unblock, posted a deal about it here but it was deemed more forum worthy https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/198448). However this free smart DNS solution is obviously not applicable to everyone such as those who want to connect to netflix or other streaming services in countries outside of the US.

I'd go all in on this one if the exchange rate wasn't so painful :(

OP, how are the speeds on the VPN? When I read the reviews, it always came across as a smart DNS service first and foremost and VPN was just a 'value add' whereas other providers such as cactus VPN or the more mainstream PureVPN were the other way around? (I realise I could use the trial to see for myself but have done so enough times with enough services to despise 3, 10 14, 15, 30 day trials…)

  • Dang just renewed getflix.

  • I've used Unblock-US in the past for Netflix access. It has a feature where you can choose your Netflix region. How would I watch, say, UK Netflix using Smart DNS Proxy? Or any other Netflix region for that matter?

what are the chances of them going out of business within the next 24 months? only thing that stops me from these subscriptions is there is no guarantee they'll be around for the period of time you sign up for.
