FREE Listings on The Trading Post

130
promoclass

This is a great deal for anyone wanting to clear out some old junk.
I have no idea when the coupon expires, so it's probably best to jump in quickly, just in case it's one made for these holidays.

I tested it by going through the process of submitting a car ad and it worked fine. Had I continued, I would have saved $49.95 if I chose the "Get Noticed!" style of ad (the other was Standard, for $29.95), so it seems to work for any type!

UPDATE: Apparently things are not completely free. Please check the comments below for details. Sorry everyone!

  • total junk. never trust any promo mails from Trading post. just submitted an ad with promo code & it deducted $8 from my credit card. so unprofessional

  • I took a look at the site below and saw that there are 3 components to the fee, and it's only the "Listing" fee that is free during the promotion period.

Looking at the details further, the Free Listing Quota is 50 per month, and then the cost is 30c per ad :-).

So, it's not much of a promotion..

Free Listing Quota for Auctions and Buy Now ads
The cost of an Auction or Buy Now ad is made up of:

    Listing fee
The initial cost to list your base ad is free until you reach your free listing quota.

    Feature fee
How you want your ad to appear on tradingpost.com.au

    Success fee
Only charged if you sell your item!

    List your ads FREE!!

Take advantage of our unlimited free listing quota for Auction or Buy Now ads until 30th December 2009!

List as many ads as you like between now and 30th December 2009 and you won't have to pay any listing fees. After the deadline, you can still list FREE with Auction and Buy Now, but the number of ads you list above your quota will attract an insertion fee.

What is the Free Listing Quota?
Each month you can place up to 50 ads, or 5 times the number of items you sold in the previous month – which ever is the highest number of ads – free!
After you have reached your monthly quota you only pay a listing (insertion) fee of $0.30 for each Auction or Buy Now ad.

    What is a basic listing?
When you list your ad you get a title in the search results, 1 image on your ad detail page, a short description on your ad detail page and an unlimited number of words in your item description, including html. The listing fee for your base ad is free until you reach your free listing quota.

  • Sorry about this one guys. I haven't placed an actual ad with the Trading Post in almost a decade so I had no idea things had changed so much.

I've removed the "Freebie" tag from the listing and also updated the description to point others to the comments.

    Thanks for the info.

  • i got charged $40!! I hope its just a techincal glich in their system because it came to $0 on checkout and when i received the receipt it was $40

  • hmm, seems to work for me. On checkout and confirmation it says $0. I haven't checked my credit card but hopefully they don't charge me as it did say $0.

    • DIdn't you receive a invoice in your mailbox that says $40 upfront cost?

      • nope, mine says $0 upfront cost =)

  • Keep in mind the Trading Post no longer publishes a print publication, they are trying to keep their "near death" online edition going by this kind of scam offer.
