5% Back Contactless under $100 for 3 Months on New Commbank Credit Cards (Max $50/Month)

150

This offer is not as good as the recent ones from ME Bank but there will be many people on Ozbargain who already have an Everyday account at ME Bank and so would not be eligible even if they came out with anything 5% cashback offer.

Commonwealth Bank is offering 5% cashback on contactless purchases (under $100) for three months on all new personal and personal liability business credit cards from card activation. Whilst not available on existing credit card accounts, it would appear it is available for existing customers.

There is a maximum cashback amount of $50 per month which equates to a monthly spend of $1000 and a maximum rebate about of $150. It looks as if the credit will be appled monthly rather than after each transaction.

Some of the credit cards this is available on are:

  • Low rate - $59 annual fee
  • Low fee - no annual fee first year and waived annual fee when more than $1000 is spent per year
  • Awards - $59 annual fee - comes with an American Express for all of those Amex offers

Fineprint: 5% Cash Back offer is capped at $50 per month and applies to contactless purchases under $100 made during the first 3 months from card activation and is available on all new Personal and Business (personal liability) credit cards applied for between 31 July 2015 and 30 September 2015, with the card being activated by 31 October 2015. This offer is not available on Corporate, Business Liability Business and existing credit cards, can be withdrawn at any time at the Bank’s discretion, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. The 5% cash back will be credited to your account monthly, with the first amount credited to your account within 60 days of activation, and the remaining two amounts credited approximately monthly thereafter, provided your account is not closed or in default at any time prior to the cash backs being credited. The 5% Cash Back will appear on your statement as 5% Cash Back. You will remain eligible for the 5% Cash Back in a subsequent month even if you do not complete a contactless purchase for a month. Applications are subject to credit approval. Full Conditions of Use will be included in our Letter of Offer. Fees and charges are payable.

      $50 a month? Who only spend $1000 a month on food/fuel + groceries? 31 days, so $1000/31 days = $32.26 paywave/paypass daily spend?
For a family this is nothing..

do you try to be confusing on purpose?
        coz you're doge meme dog?

        • No I'm just saying the cashback is pretty terrible compared to MEBank 5% especially when its capped

      • not everyone spends over $1000 a month

        • +1

Don't know why you got negged. I know I don't.

    • Nope. NAB used to do that many years ago in their Visa Mini. Only 0.5% cashback though

      • Nope. Many years ago it was 1% now it is only 0.5% capped @ $10 per month.

  • Is this valid with the Student credit card?

    • It only seems to exclude Corporate, Business Liability Business and existing credit cards .

  • Does this include all credit cards? I'm looking at the wealth package for a home loan and that includes a credit card.

at 5% this would offset any "points" advantages.

    • 5% kills any standard points deals.

  • Good deal however 3 months is the lowest term than what we are used to :(

Sweeten it with bonus points offer on rewards cards and i'm on it!

    • Hopefully they take their time considering your suggestion. still got about 4months to go with the ME 5% deal. :p

  • +3

If you get every transactions right, you get max $150 in 3 months. And then everything revert back to their unattractive credit card offer.

  • Damn signed up for a credit card a month ago with them

  • saw this as well but unfortunately not for existing customers :(
