    Unsure about this one.

    Anyone dealt with them before?

I'm unsure about that site's claim that the website is in the Bahamas. Appears to be hosted on AWS and the domain name is registered to a Hong Kong address. It doesn't appear to be behind CloudFlare either as claimed on that site. In fact, as far as I can see none of the information on that scamadvisor site is correct.

      • thanks, good to know.

    • I assure you that our company is legit. Our addresses and contact numbers are available on our website. Yes, our site is registered overseas as our parent company is based in China and Singapore. We have been around since 2009, with our parent company 65Daigou serving both Singapore and Malaysia. EZbuy is our Australian branch and we are hoping to help make a positive impact for everyone.

  • Hey OP, can this be used with a 5TB external HDD?

    • I am not sure about this, sorry.

    • Hi Racer,

Feedback from Xiaomi is that there will be no issues with a 5TB external drive and it should work just fine.

  • Doesn't seem like it would be easy to get it back into English. I set up a Mi Router for a friend while it was entirely in Chinese. Some of the Google Translated options were hilarious!

    • Xiaomi is an upcoming starter tech company that has been around for five years now and are currently ranked as the third highest provider of smartphones in the world. While they are currently expanding into the UK and US, there is no international version of this box yet.

There are several tutorials on the web how to switch languages and even jailbreak the product, though we cannot do this for you.

$74.81 delivered to one of our collection points for pickup. (Includes product cost, international shipping, agent fee and credit card surcharges). Delivery to home may incur a small local delivery surcharge.

Care to elaborate on this, rep ?

Also, according to the website it's AU$64.28 + AU$7.15 shipping. Which is less than using your coupon code.

    • The product cost is $64.28
      International shipping is $7.15

We also have an 8% agents fee on top of this and Paypal and Credit Card surcharges are 3% + 0.50c.

VIP and SVIP members do have lower agent fee rates but we cannot avoid the payment surcharges - though we are working on implementing bank transfer functionality which will be able to avoid it in the future.

In regards to the local delivery fee, we ship to our collection points for no extra surcharge, but to deliver to home there is an $8 surcharge for metro and $9.50 for regional (slightly higher after calculating in agent fee and payment surcharge)

Hope this helps to clear the confusion. :)

      • So the prices on your website aren't actually what we will pay. I believe that's called false advertising. You might want to check ACCC guidelines on advertising before proceeding any further.

        • Hi DJ,

The prices written on the website are the prices of the products. These are prices taken directly from the merchant links themselves and converted into AUD. There is nothing false about the pricing.

When we are aware of the shipping fees for a particular item, they are in our site. If not, there are warnings given that a second payment will be required once we can measure the item. We also consolidate packages with multiple products and refund any extra that has been paid for shipping. I have seen examples where this is only 60 cents, and other examples where the refund was several dollars.

We do not hide our fees and they are all visible there before you make payment and you are not forced to purchase with the items in your cart. There is nothing against the trading rules as all information is given on the site - else the ACCC would have to take down every retailer; Don't forget the offline retailers who charge for credit card surcharges.

Hope this helps to ease your mind.

  • IF this seller is legit, it is a fantastic price. I bought one around March this year and use it regularly.

It does default to chinese out of the box obviously but there is a guide out there to install English UI.

How would this compare to the Tronsmart Orion R68 Pro from a few weeks back?

    • Hard to know, since very few have actually received one, and those that have said they lag with 1080p.

  • The website says seller location: China. So is this local Australian stock or coming from China?

    • Looks like it will be sent from China.

      • So what's with the 'local delivery' in the title then? OP, you need to either edit the title or clarify where the stuff is coming from.

        • It seems like their very own meaning - they deliver to somewhere local (collection point), not from somewhere local.

    • To clarify, international shipping at economy rates is quoted in the price given. There are options for express shipment (DHL) if faster delivery is required.

In regards to the local delivery fee, we ship to our collection points for no extra surcharge, but to deliver to home there is an $8 surcharge for metro and $9.50 for regional (slightly higher after calculating in agent fee and payment surcharge)

Hope this helps to clear the confusion. :)

  • OP Hello ???

  • Hello everyone and thank you for your comments. Yes, this item is coming from China. We are a shopping concierge service that assists with purchasing from the US, China and Taiwan. Apologies for not replying sooner as we have had a very heavy load today.

    • I have no idea what kind of entity that represents in Australia. It sounds like you buy stuff from overseas and sell it to people in Australia. In other words, You are an online retailer. So what happens if someone buys something from you and needs to make a warranty claim? Do we send it to an Australian address? Do you have an ABN?

      • Hi Bigrizz.

Our ABN is quoted in our terms of service at https://ezbuy.com/help/terms/
We are registered as EZbuy International Pty. Ltd. with an ABN of 66602266268 and have been operating in Australia for almost a year now.

You can consider us as a combination of purchasing agent and shipping agent. We do not hold any products in stock and buy only what we are asked to buy. Warranty for this item is unfortunately only offered in China. We are quite happy to assist with contacting and negotiating warranty repairs completely free of charge, but shipping costs will be paid by the customer.

You are not buying products from us, only a service.

        Hope this helps.

  • what does the code do, says "undefined"?

    • Hi Fooly,

Could you please show me a screen shot of where this is shown? I have tested the code myself and it seems to work fine.

The coupon is a $5 discount, though of course this also reduces the payment surcharge so you are saving a little more than that. :)

      • +1

The code would not work for me until I made an account and logged in. Before that it would say "undefined"

        • Thanks Lachy for that :) Registration is required of course in order to be able to purchase, and the code cannot confirm if you are a new or existing customer until you have logged in. This code is, as noted, only for new registrations, so the check is essential.

  • OK have registered, however cannot pay via Paypal "There was a problem contacting PayPal. Please try again later."

    • Hi Fooly,

We've done a quick test and it seems to be functioning fine. Please have a try again later :)

      • still not working, will try again later. Also, what firmware is on it?

        • According to the merchant, they cannot guarantee which version of the firmware comes installed but the highest version is 1.3.1
If it is lower than this, it can still be upgraded. :)

      • Same here cant seem to pay with paypal

        • Hi Silverx, could you please send us a screenshot of the error it is giving to [email protected]

Our tests show it as working, but there is always other things that can happen, so I have asked the IT team to look into this, though a screen shot would be really helpful. :)

        • @EZbuy:

          done

the error message is "There was a problem contacting PayPal. Please try again later."

    • Hi Fooly and Silver,

Thank you very much for your feedback. After discussing, I ran some further tests and have encountered the error myself. We now know what is causing this error and are working to fix it. :)

      • Paypal checkout works now! Lets see how this purchase turns out.

    • Thank you everyone for your patience. We have now fixed the problem and checking out with PayPal should function correctly. :)

      • If you have already created an order, please go to 'my orders' and continue from there. Else the system will not allow you to input the code again as you have already placed an order and are no longer a new customer. :)

  • Mine arrived today, first thing I checked was the firmware AND it is 1.3.94
It cannot be rooted to install another launcher (i.e Apex) to change language to English
    You're quote written above
"According to the merchant, they cannot guarantee which version of the firmware comes installed but the highest version is 1.3.1
If it is lower than this, it can still be upgraded. :)"
    PM for help please.

    • Hi Fooly,

I am sorry to hear that the version is higher than we were told. We are chasing up this issue with the merchant and will find a solution for you as soon as we can.
