Twin SD Tuner Set Top Box with Time Shift Recording to USB/SD Card - $59 from WOW

90

This standard definition set top box not only allows you to get the additional digital channels, but also to pause, rewind and record them. You'll need to add a USB hard drive/flash stick, or an SD/MMC card, but it's effectively a PVR. Spotted on page 3 of the WOW Sight & Sound last minute gift ideas catalogue.

Haven't been able to find out any other detail about this device, but it's a Vue Eye brand and the picture shows the USB connector and SD/MMC on the front. The ad states:

  • Twin SD Digital Tuner
  • Record to USB/SD MMC Input
  • Time Shift Recording
  • Watch another channel while recording

Interesting product, would have said that being SD that would be limiting, but given that the broadcasters have dropped the HD only content strategy in favour of more channels using SD , then the only real compelling need for HD is just the image quality. SD is fine

    • I read somewhere that OneHD isn't simulcast in SD in some regional centers, I gather Newcastle is one. But nothing lost there, what a tragic waste of bandwidth that channel is.

  • Very good deal for those with a CRT television and want a set top box and recorder in one. SD quality is fine as ozpete mentioned.

  • Twin tuner? That sounds good.

  • Can you please post the link - I cannot find it!

  • i can't find it either

can you get 10hd (the sport channel on it) or GO! on it

since they provide exclusive content, an SD box that doesn't get this is limiting

  • Channel 10, One, and GO all have SD digital channels so you can watch them with this.

+1 for not being able to find the link.

this place has the dumbest shop locations out… any Syd or Melb metro stores?

  • thats new didnt know you can now get what used to be HD only content on SD box. Better do a rescan for new channels on my SD box!

is there a list out there that tell you which regions get what ?

    • I had the same thinking with One HD when I finally found out that there is also broadcast in SD that I can record on my SD recorder. I am not sure if all the HD channels are available, its a matter of checking the EPG!

  • Has anyone bought one of these? if so can you tell me what its like?

  • I ended up purchasing one, delivery to melb was only 11 total 70.50 supposed to be sent by courier… hopefully should be here wednesday/thursday…Thanks op
