At that taxing rate battery lasts about 55-60 minutes.

No way the same specs, not even close. This one does the XAVC S codec, which means 1080p/60 at 50mbps and also up to 240 frames in sub-HD. Then there's the miscellaneous features like GPS and splash resistance without case.
The Xiaomi would only be a choice if you want a single budget camera, or you really absolutely need 3 cameras within the budget of this.
The Sony as100 was cheaper last year with the trade in or cash back can't remember..

@Thrift: Yeah good price also :) Guess you need to weigh the pros and cons of both, does the live view remote control weigh in favour and so on :)
It's the steadyshot feature that really makes the sony line of action cams a step above anything else, including gopro's. (Not sure if the latest gopro has this kind of feature though).
Basically there is often vertical banding and jumping in gopro's (see it often in motoring/biking footage), where as the sony comes with steadyshot, means you see none of that in the footage, and it smooths out most of the shaking as well.
Yes, image stabilisation is one feature GoPro should strongly consider adding into their future models.

It's a good camera, I won one in a compo last year.
Standout feature is wifi, you can use the play memories app to live stream from the camera as the camera acts as a hotspot.
The slo mo Modes are good.
The wristwatch monitor thing is just crap, Sellotape an iPhone to your wrist instead

Have a look on YouTube, there are a lot of comparisons against the various GoPro models and reviews showing the performance in a variety of conditions.
Amazing price for this camera. Ozbargain it right now! I have one and it's damn near flawless. Onboard stabilization is incredibly well done.
Underwater though requires a dive housing/flat door; the case that comes with this has a dome which prevents underwater focus.
