Any idea when 5 will be on sale? Is there huge difference between 4 and 5 pro? Will be using for basically snorkeling, waterpark activity and seasonal snow trips.
TIA
not a huge difference, 5 got better low light and object tracking. Compared to the price difference I would say 4 is better. Got one in the last sale and it is great.
if you record a lot during low light or night, go for 5.
im on the same boat, there are plenty of comparison between 4 and 5 on YT, best price was $450ish on black friday ebay sale but nothing comes closed to it since so don't think it will be on sale very soon
First, there will be watermark Action 5 when people record and post.
GoPro 13 is also on sale for $498-$30 = $468
This or GoPro? is extra 169$ worth paying?

gopro is $439 at the good guys with the payfrenzy code https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/896113
that's still quite a bit more than $299 (+32%)
As a long term go pro user … I would not recommend last 2-3 generations to my enemies.
Software went to shit, batteries bulged after < 2 years… considering a switch to DJI but might wait till end of financial… or not
Get some of these, you will be blown away just how "reliable" they make your 10/11/12 GoPros (I avoided v13 - didn't want new spare batteries)!!

I used to think the GoPro Enduro batteries were meant to be the best, but after all 8 bulged within 12 months, I got these - the difference is AMAZING!
(recordings no longer randomly stops, hardly any overheating messages, no funky non start with button press, etc etc)"randomly stops" this along is the bane of my existence!
I've got 2x Action 4's and I wouldn't pay the premium for GoPro.
- Software is much the same. After 5 minutes of using the DJI it feels familiar and I know where things are.
- Image quality for me was an improvement as a whole (sharper, better colours, nicer image). I use mine a lot for motorsport and the GoPro usually exposed the cabin correctly and over exposed outside (which I wanted to see). DJI is much better at managing the exposure, plus I can lock an exposure compensation in. (GoPro missed a trick being able to save an exposure point - you had to do it on each start which was useless)
- Battery life is above average. Lasts longer than the GoPro, but less than the sales numbers.
- Doesn't overheat or just stop because it/the memory card decided not to play nice. I use sandisk extreme pro's.
- Fast charging is great for quick top ups. I wouldn't bother with the battery charging pack. Even though it's super neat and tidy, it's expensive for what it is.
I've looked at the 5's, but cant justify the increase in cost for what will be marginal gains on IQ, and some bigger screens which I use once (for more than a check) for setup, and only as confirmation when I hit record.
Lut packs available for all DJI devices here: https://www.dji.com/au/lut
Hows the battery life?
worth getting if i have action 3? for hiking
I wouldn't bother. Depending on your use case the Osmo pocket 3 might provide more value to you.
I remember looking into it back with this deal and they were both almost identical products:

Thanks. Was holding out for an Insta360x4, but for the price and reviews this product has received, I'll give it a go.
grabbed one tgank you OP. I think it's the best deal for an action cam atm
hmmm I got DJI Mimo app but it's not prompting to activate. weird
actually nvm I got it sorted. once app got all the permissions in the world it all worked. firmware update also didn't work until I did factory reset on the device and reset wireless too. go figure. but it all works now. very well put together little device.

During the last offer I was reading researching extensively about this model.
What eventually put me off is the App not in Play store and has to be sideloaded install unknown application.
Knowing where this brand came from, I'm not risking it.Thanks for sharing, this was good to know!
Grabbed one recently from a JB sale at that price. Extremely happy with it as a cycling "dash cam" does loop recording perfectly, and has one press start and stop.
