Continental GP4000 II 700x23 Bicycle Tyres 4 for $200 Delivered @ Open Road Cycles

50

Not sure when this deal ends but it's the cheapest in Australia.
Considering this includes GST I think it works out to be a good deal to buy locally and have it delivered a bit faster.
Australian Stock.

A separate deal on Ribble for $44.33 with coupon code MID10. Need to buy a bit more to qualify for free shipping.

To FriendlyPhillip, this is the Grand Prix 4000s II, not Grand Prix (which doesn't have the vectran layer).

And yeah, I bought some off ribble this morning :)

    • I realised the mistake just after I posted :)

  • Oh, it's for bicycles, not motorcycles…

  • 23mm is good for the track, or a very smooth road. Generally 25 even 28 mm is better.
Also, 23 mm don't last as long.

You can (and I do) ride on pretty much any sealed road on 23mm tyres. They are the only width that I use on my road bikes and I would take a guess that this is also the case for a majority of road bike riders.

I have several thousand kms on 23mm tyres, so i'm not sure what sort of wear issues you are talking about.

    • Not sure if you are referring Contis specifically? I've used a variety of brands of tyres, usually ride 23mm front, 25mm back and only recently retired a 23mm front which had (according to Strava) over 5500kms on it, so wear seems pretty good.

    • I'm yet to see a road bike (of the serious type - not a commuter) which has anything other than 23mm

Latest trend is to go to 25mm. Latest data suggests same or less rolling resistance at lower (ie more comefortable) pressures.
Also there is an aero benefit when combined with modern wider rims.

More pro teams now use 25-27mm tubs.

That said, IMHO, there is 2/5's of FA difference for your average club racer or recreational cyclist.

I think most of the pros use 25 these days.

Interesting read, interesting data. cheers guys.
I might have a look to see what tyre width I can fit on mine.

    • My bike cannot take 25c tyres. Not enough clearance.

  • it was only 3 weeks ago that torpedo7 had these for $40ea. I bought 4 for $169 delivered.
