          @kamkam:

A trick to get a chat person quickly, is to go to the Telstra webpage then go to the page where you would go to sign up a phone on a plan like a Iphone 6, Samsung Galaxy 6 etc etc, usually a little chat window comes up as soon as you starting browsing the more expensive phones on a plan. I have done this a few times.

  • Has anyone ported their numbers over yet? I just got off live chat and they mentioned that I may not be able to port my number over even though the order went through (didn't get the targeted e-mail). That would be a royal pain if that is the case.

    • The order I put in was for a port request. It hasn't come across yet, but I've received a tracking number for the phone. I can't imagine it being a problem.

      • I am in the same boat but was wondering if that porting part of the form is just to show you are porting and if we still need to contact Telstra to port the number over (may be overthinking this) once we receive the phone.

        • +1

Don't overthink it. The form looked like standard Telstra process, and they probably process hundreds of these per day.

    • They're really acting like a bunch of babies over on whirlpool.

You should hop over to the Regus thread here and have a read. :)

  • Ordered a HTC and an S5 on Friday around 3.30pm.

HTC arrived this morning, and just got the shipping notice for the S5 :)

Was not a targeted customer, porting from Optus.

What I did do however is purchase a $2 Telstra SIM over the weekend and activate it. Then called Telstra to check what is happening with my order at which time they saw that i had an active SIM and pushed the order through. Hope this helps.

    • good boy

    • Smart move, Houdini

  • position 23 in the queue…

    • position update please :-)

      • gave up, was on position 11 but too busy at work. i just got sms confirmation from vodafone that telstra has requested to port my number, and a confirmation email from telstra that my new service will be active in 4 hrs

i will follow them up later in regards to the $45\50 plan discrepancy, im sure their call center is flooded because of this deal :P

  • just called telstra and was told that all the non-telstra prepaid orders will be cancelled

    • +1

Good luck with them trying to get it back. I'm not a Telstra prepaid customer and my phone's already in the startack depot.

      • Unless you physically have the goods in your hand, they have the power to instruct Startrack NOT to deliver.

Just stay mum, don't raise any attention to yourself, you'll be alright

  • better go out and get a $2 dollar DIMSIM

  • +2

This is what happens when you ask online chat questions that do not need to be asked. A different answer every time by a staff member reading off a screen. Just wait for your phones to arrive.

  • +8

What's wrong with everybody calling Telstra just wait already the more people bringing to there attention the more likely they are to cancel it. Once you got your phone it's all over they have to honour the deal!!
STOP TELLING TELSTRA WE ARE RORTING THEM PEOPLE!!

  • From Live Chat and this Thread can stay closed:

    Wilbur
I've spoke with our Online team and they've confirmed that your order was cancelled by our Control Group.
    Wilbur
And they also confirmed that this offer is already cease meaning it's no longer active.
    Wilbur
I would like to advise also that the eligibility of the offer is only for those who were with Telstra Prepaid service for long time and received the email as they're eligible for the offer.

    • I've been with them for 8 years!!!
      No email… Lol.

    • Seems to me it was like you telling them to cancel your order as you obviously gave them your account details so it was easy for them to cancel it before they sent it out. Wake up people the ones that are getting canned are the people that are contacting them before they receive the phone. Once you receive the phone it's to late to cancel!!!!

      • Not really, Telstra not stupid. Some deals already been cancelled due to stock limitations.

        • Don't agree Telstra only look at things when it's brought to there attention. I tried changing my account to add my wife 3 times and they couldn't even get that right. Do you think the person's who is processing the orders go right through everybody's account to check to see if they illegible!!
It's people calling them that they then see your account and see that you are not entitled and it's easy to cancel before the phone is sent after that it's to late to cancel.

  • When I went in to the Telstra store the guy was implying people who didn't get the email are gonna get slugged with the $25 p/m equipment charges which are waived in the deal.

I showed him the email which says Dear h0mbre, and I still couldn't get the deal lol

    • Well, he's wrong because my order, even though i didn't receive the invitation, says:

      Samsung GALAXY S5 White
Upfront Cost (billed to your credit card) $0.00
Monthly Cost (billed to your mobile account) $0.00

Total including GST - Monthly Cost (billed to your mobile account) $45.00

    • Wow. Looks like you and he were right after all.

      • you guys are porting or just activate the new sim?

      • Why would I lie?
The guy was really really suspicious, I felt like a criminal.
He saw the email in my inbox and even asked me to forward it to him.
Must've been an email sent around to all stores to watch out about this deal

        • Not a great way to make customers feel

  • Can anyone who receives a phone and intends to use it, could they post if it is network locked or not. A Rep said they're not then called me back and said they are locked. Thanks

  • +2

Good to hear many have confirmed orders. There are going to be many fuming Telstra prepaid customers that miss out. Unfortunately that's what can happen when a deal hits Ozbargain.

    • I am one of these people, never in hell did I think telstra would honour these applications considering the nature of the deal and it being targeted.

      • Hopefully they will bring it back for you and the others that actually received the targeted email.

This was an excellent deal and I too would have jumped on this had I not had the deal matched by Vodafone.

  • +1

update: phone has just rolled over from vodafone to telstra :)

    • what?

      • +2

        Don't you get it?
        Phone
        rolled over
        from Vodafone to Telstra

These stores must be adjacent to each other

  • Hahah this is the best deal ever. So funny. It feels like I've been in a three day long action movie.

  • +2

This is what I got as an answer when I asked if this deal was still available.

"Yes, this deal is still available for our prepaid customers. However, we are facing some technical issues with the website and our IT team is working on the same. I would recommend you to contact us back after some time to place the order successfully with us."

Was also told that you had to be on Telstra Prepaid. I did ask if I changed over from another provider (Boost) to Telstra pepaid then that would be then be ok.

    • Thanks for this. So it's still likely we can port from another provider to a Telstra pre paid then get the deal via chat? Even without the targeted email?

  • Just got my S5 delivered. Snappy response from Telstra, not sure about this Go Mobile Casual $50…

    • I am fairly sure it is $45/month as agreed.

      • @Economic, can you confirm that your old postpaid Telstra plan is now showing as $45/mth?

        • My receipt showed $45/mth

        • @andyman1908: Thanks, but I want to know if the SIM that arrived in the box if it was actually activated and "My Telstra" shows that he (or she) is definitely on the $45/mth.

  • Order on friday got rejected for 'lack of verifiable ID' - load of BS

  • anyone got their and activated yet? can you confirm that the phone is unlocked too?

  • Phone was "onboard with driver for delivery" this morning but it never arrived. Status is now "undelivered: RTS". Looks like Telstra recalled it mid delivery. Was porting from Boost. Teasingly close :(

    • ouch! didn't know they could do that

      • Don't worry, it doesn't sound very plausible. Lenny1 signed up half an hour ago! (Perhaps he can provide a screenshot)

        • +2

Correct, I signed up to provide info on my experience yesterday (something I didn't think was possible either). I guess the negative I received means that this is not what commenting is about, newbie mistake. Sorry, I didn't realise proof was required for comments .. very strict here. Here is the screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwOR_MXEIXMZN1JIX01KczBNbWM…

        • @Lenny1:
Welcome to ozb lenny. I think the negativity came around as ppl didnt really believe or thought u jumped to conclusion. I think the startrack status could be a number of reasons, i wouldnt think telstra would pull your order mid-delivery. Wait till today or call startrack to find the reason, could well be redelivered today (mines saying onboard with driver this morning).

        • @andyman1908: Good idea andyman1908, thanks. I quickly called Startrack and their records show that Telstra called them up to return the package to sender unfortunately.

        • @Lenny1:

That sucks mate. Bad luck. Mine came through successfully. Im still awaiting my wifes order but ordered a bit later on friday.

    • I was told I couldn't go from Boost to this deal. You need to have ported to a Telstra PrepPaid beforehand.

      • Unfortunately what you were told looks correct. I just saw the deal and blindly applied to get in quick before it was sold out (didn't even realise it was targeted until I read comments after applying).

    • Mine just arrived. I'm porting from Telechoice. I would call Startrack and find out what happened.

  • Looks like Im getting my delivery tomorrow.

Anyone know if I leave an "authority to leave" note with a copy of my licence in an envelope on the door the driver would slip the parcel under a slightly open garage door ?

Auspost and Toll have done it for me before but have never asked Startrack for this.

  • Well mine just showed up. Will port over later today and post back when I'm switched over.

  • -1

    out of stock

  • Help?
Mine is arriving today, I applied for a port and last night received an email from Telstra saying my number was ported from Optus to Telstra (service is down on phone now). Telstra can see it in their systems. I bought a $2 Telstra SIM to use as the new SIM card and tried to activate, apparently because I am on a post paid plan the pre paid sim cannot be activated for me? They recommended I go into a Telstra shop to get a new postpaid SIM and get the number put on that. Does this sound correct? Would of thought the SIMS are all the same.

  • +2

Glad to say my phone arrived today.

Signed up on Friday at 4.30pm AEST and selected wanting a new service and phone.

    • Did it come with a SIM? Or just the phone?

      • +1

Came with a phone and SIM.

Here is a list of events

        • Selected S5 and new number/service.
        • Received order confirmation at 4.40pm AEST.
        • Received email shortly later saying billing is activated.
        • Received email later that night saying the order was cancelled as unable to ID me online.
        • Received email from Telstra yesterday saying phone was dispatched.
        • Phone arrived today at business address (no 100pt ID check was required, they left it at the mail room)
        • Can confirm i'm on the $45 casual plan.
        • S5 came unlocked. Tested with a friend's Optus sim
        • +1

I don't have an active service as I am not getting an network connectivity. It makes sense as they canceled my billing.
          Free phone it seems.

I do hope they contact me one day and get me on the $45 plan as I really wanted it

        • @jiakz:

What do you mean by they cancelled your billing and you really wanted the $45 plan? Does that mean your SIM you got with the phone couldnt be activated on the $45 plan?

        • +1

          @frogduck:

I think the phone wasn't meant to be delivered. They cancelled the order but Item was dispatched.

Hence I got a free phone but the sim or service number doesn't exist as i don't have a billing account with Telstra

        • @jiakz:

Ah, fair enough :) I received a billing number but couldnt create an account to check it yet so I'll probably follow up here when everything is sorted!

      • There's a SIM card in a little cardboard sleeve in the box.

        • Perfect, so I would just activate the SIM and move my number onto it.

        • @HitlersDad: it's all described on the paperwork they send in the box. Visit telstra.com/activate pop in your details then activate.

  • On board with driver for delivery. Too bad I won't be there to receive it. Hopefully it'll be available this afternoon at the post office.

  • Just had mine delivered to work. My day off today. I might have to go in and get it, I won't believe it until it's in my hand.
    What a ride.
    Thank you Telstra.

  • I was hoping this deal may pop back up again but may not be the case…..
Just had a quick chat with online rep and been told that $45 Go Mobile Casual Plan no longer exists :(

    • That's disappointing if true. It goes against what user TheGuru1 was told by their chat team yesterday. I was gonna port to a Telstra SIM and then give it a go via chat, not sure if I'll go though that now

      • Let's hope that's the case :)
I'd really love to have unlimited talk and 2Gb of data with Telstra!
I'll check in time to time to see if the deal pops back up.

  • Onboard for delivery for me as well today.

I left a note with a copy of my id for the driver to put the package in a safe place - otherwise i wont be getting the phone till Saturday morning when I can get to the PO.
Hindsight should have had it delivered to the office - but didn't think that far ahead.

  • +1

I'm porting my number now. Went and got it from work. Was worth the 1.5 hour round trip.
Interestingly the paperwork states go mobile casual 45 for me, where others have stated it says 50. Hmmmm. Will keep you posted on the porting.

    • Oh looks like you're in WA too, I guess startrack have done their rounds for the day. Will most likely get mine tomorrow then!

  • Received my phone order this morning :) I also put through an order for my wife a little after mine (about 530pm on Friday), received the order and account opening email but nothing since. I'm worried to bring it up with their webchat team for fear of cancellation. Anyone order after 530pm on Friday and received their phone yet?

  • +2

The webpage has changed, now it says "Invitation only for Telstra Prepaid customers" at the top. Might be on offer again soon?

    • +5

Used to say 'Proudly maintained by Andrew' at the bottom…. now says 'Emma.'
      I hope Andrew still has a job….

  • Unfortunately, i wasn't home to receive the package and the dumbass driver didn't leave a calling card so the post office wouldn't hand it over. Looks like tomorrow's the day.

  • Bad news. Ported from Spintel to the $45 plan. They put me on to the $50 plan with $25 hanset repayment cost per month. I called up and they offered $10 discount per month but not waiving the $25 phone repayment fees. I declined their offer.

So they are waiving of the cancellation fees and said would send a return satchel for the phone. Also mentioned they would cover costs to rejoin spintel.

    • +1

Is that what was written on the letter that came with the phone? Wow.

      • Yes. The online order intial mail said $45 go plan with the relevant critical summary. Later today on activation I got an email suggesting its $50 with $1000 worth of calls and $25 handset repayment. So a total $75/ month. Sorry I am not so rich.
