I would not trust a 40dollar bag when snow camping…

    • +3

Yeah, maybe use it for the couch surfer!

    • +2

The quality is not bad. Caribee is a good brand, an Australian brand no-less.

The current model Glacial Bay and Snow Drift are on sale for $70 and $80 straight from caribee themselves.
      http://www.caribeeshop.com.au/sleeping-bags/c8gb
As long as you stick to the temperature rating you should be fine.

      • -6

They really do not look like 0degree bags. Proper 0deg bags are much more expensive (around 8-10 times the price at least) so either this is a super bargain or their 0deg claim is bogus!

        • +1

You can get down zero degree bags for $200

        • What nonsense. You can easily get a -10 degree synthetic bag for $200.

Hell my -10 degree down quilt was only around $300 shipped.

          0 degree is easy.

        • +4

Maybe it allows your body temperature to drop to 0 degrees.

I bought one of these for $25 last christmas, and went camping around easter time. It was around 5 degree Celsius at night and it was still pretty comfortable with short and t-shirt in these. I can't see you dying from hypothermia in the bag at 5 degree given you might need to put on warmer clothes to stay comfortable.

I really don't understand what you mean by 8-10 times the prices?
Do you mean the COTD discounted price which would make it at least $200
or the COTD normal price which would be $320 or the RRP of Caribee which would be $640?

Dont know where you shop but you can easily get one here for $80

For $25 bucks these are at least better than most sleeping bag you will find in Kmart and BigW.

WOW the glacial bay actually cost more than the snow drift in this sale. How stupid!

i only see total $24 and press submit didnt realised shipping is expensive but well, total is more important.
Caribee Snow Drift Jumbo Left-Zip Sleeping Bag* $49.99 $49.99
    Postage $11.54
    Product Discount -$37.49
    GST $2.18
    Ex GST $21.86
    Total Inc. GST $24.04

  • Maybe the photos are misleading, but they look like summer-only bags.

It looks like they are stitched right through, like a cheap doonah, rather than having baffle walls to separate compartments.

  • sold out

  • Any grab a right hand zipper one i got two lefties!!! Can do a swap

  • Sold out

  • yep ozbargained

  • Got 2 lefties as well, anyone in adelaide wanna do a swap?

    • +1

Does the Left zip make really any difference? I mean, left hand to do a zip is not really that hard. Or am I missing something here? I bought the Glacial lefty but I'm right handed

      • me too dammit im buying it lol

      • +2

The right one can join with the left one to make a double I believe. I dont think the left handed right handed make a real difference.

        • +1

not sure about 2 lefts but we all know that 2 rights don't make a big sleeping bag

        • @altomic: you're right about that. Oh, have you left this thread already?

  • My only choice was 2 left ones. I guess I'll have to join them head to toe lol

  • where to buy the right one ?

    • +1

Sold out on COTD. Was here earlier. There are plenty of stores that stock this brand, but probably not at this price.

  • +2

Saw this earlier but then forgot to pop back to have a closer look. Grabbed a couple. Thanks OP. The left and right can join together, as loremoon said above, to make a double for those cosy outback nights… That said, while more versatile, probably more comfortable to buy a real double if you're unlikely to ever camp alone.

Just got 2 for the kids…

    • +4

      good swap.

      • he's here all week, folks, make sure you try the clam chowder.

  • Yeah need left n right to join gonna be fun joining two lefties

  • I am trying to find out it's weight. Approx value will help. Any idea ?

Unsure if this is accurate but:

      • Thanks mate. I just saw that. 3Kg doesn't look good for me.

  • +2

I almost froze to death with the -10c one in the outback..was about 5c then..

    • thats sounds rough =\

      what happened after?

      • Brokeback Mountain?

    • I don't think you're meant to go commando underneath.

    • Ended up sleeping in my car

  • I've just spent 9 days camping in the outback with mine! Got close to 0 degrees a few nights. I was a bit cold one night but most nights had to remove my clothing! We paid $49 each and stoked with them.

    • what ones did you use? the -10 or 0 temp rating?

      • -10 I'm thin too and generally run a little cool so I was impressed!

  • +2

Must admit I don't get all the hate for COTD. Personally I've never had an issue. Just got all my stuff from the SALE very promptly. Had an minor issue with an item which they happily refunded without question. Immediate response to email as well. I've dealt with a lot of online shops and (in my experience) these guys are one of the best.
