Any suggestions on a cheap, small & quiet case and PSU to go with the cheap $39 fanless mini-ITX motherboard http://www.jw.com.au/intel-blkd2500cce-atom-d2500-dual-lan-mini-itx-motherboard-p-56554?
What are you planning to do with this MB? X-bit labs reviewed 2 reference boards back in 2012 and declared them useless for everything but mini servers for home (solely because of the low power consumptions). This CPU/GPU combo cannot output smooth full HD for all formats!
Oh, thanks for the pointer though according to the review it does at least have hardware acceleration support for H.264.
I thought it might offer a way to ship a small quiet headless PC preconfigured that can Wake-on-LAN for like remote IT assistance/management/support needs out to my tech-challenged elderly parents interstate on home broadband Internet. I've had an old laptop there that appears to have died. I've also been experimenting with cheap Windows 8 tablets.
This toy should be able to handle the occasional video conferencing.
The bad news is that a mini-ITX case (without PSU) costs as much as this MB. The good news is that mini-ITX MBs are backward compatible with ATX cases. This MB uses a standard ATX 20/24-pin PSU. Your cheapest option is to recycle an old PC and disconnect its case fans, and to live with having a fan in the PSU. The better PSUs don't turn on their fans until required. Fanless ATX PSUs are a premium product and you will pay!

http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=fanless+psu&spo…@alvian: Thanks again for the response and links. Yeah, shame small cases & PSUs aren't easily/cheaply available. I bought the barebones system featured in this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114873 a couple of years ago for around $132 delivered and it comes with an AC adapter but has a CPU fan.
Their Huntkey powerboards with dual USB sockets are also decently priced. $9/$17/$21 for 4/6/8 outlets whereas MSY have the equivalent boards for $20/$24/$28.
Not sure on quality as I haven't used Huntkey - the ports are 2.1A total but it's still a nice way to free up a bit of space since you won't need a wall wart to charge up devices.
