GoDaddy $0.99 Domain Name Registration

25
tdefr99

Not sure how long this one will last, but they'll usually expire end of the month.
I had to try a couple dozen coupon codes and finally found one that's working with an Australian account.

Will renew at $17.99 at the end of the first year registration, but you can also move it to another registrar before that if you like, or find another coupon code with a discount to renew.

  • Who's editing the title? it's not USD $0.99, this is AUD.

I transfer all my domain names to another registrar in two months. Easy saving.

godaddy make it hard to transfer, i know what im doing and it still took me hours… its not worth it at all.

        • ? only takes me a minute. if you're 10 years in the biz you're not doing it right.
I have transferred a couple this year alone, no issue.

          @bargained:

ok so even if thats true, good for you, im not the only one who has said its hard to transfer from Godaddy.

Regardless, Godaddy are un-ethical and support internet censorship and control.

@Aquilius: ok so even if thats true, sad for you, im not the only one who has said its cheap to register at Godaddy

Regardless, Godaddy are cheap and allow you to register a domain name for 99 cents.

if you can find a better deal let me know and I'll try that next time.

Beat me to it. This is good advice.

Not a bargain. They have these deals all year round.
Use this for domains you are only using for one year, use all fake information and real email to sign up.
If the domain is important, do not use deals like this.

    • They have these deals all year round

and nobody else, so is it still not a bargain?

      • Use the ozbargain search tool to search "godaddy".
You will then see a Google ad which you click to get a .99 domain.

This is a awesome bargain! We need someone to post new coupons every month! Nice!

  • Do they still require your credit card details if using a coupon?

    • Well, there's still 99 cents to pay.

      • I see now how that question wasn't very clear. I'll try again :P

Do they still require payment by "credit card only" if using a coupon?

        • Well, they don't offer 'local pickup' so cash seems to be impossible.
I have my credit card details in the system, don't know if they offer any other ways.

Why, you don't have a credit card? Or don't you trust them?

        • @bargained:

You know very well that I'm not asking for 'local pickup' so please stop with that nonsense.

And no I do not trust them with my card details. Last time I tried one of these offers the options to pay by anything other than card credit became unavailable.

I suspect they are banking on the fact that many will simply forget about it and then be charged a ridiculous price when it auto-renews.

Anyway, I'll check it out for myself later and come back to leave my findings and vote then.

        • @kamoi: and they are making money off the people who buy WHOIS protection.

        • @kamoi: same as with any other registrar. it's up to you to have it auto-renew or not, what's the problem? People are looking for reasons to neg the deal? I'm puzzled.

          @bargained:

You are completely missing the point of what I'm saying.

          1. If I don't use the coupon I can choose to pay with Paypal or any other payment method they provide.

          2. If I do use the coupon I'm not allowed to checkout unless I give them my credit card details.

They already have systems in place to process various payment methods so what is the reason for this restriction when using a coupon?

Edit: Oh and I suppose people are negging the deal because GoDaddy sucks the big one. Anyone who has ever hosted with them should be able to tell you a story or a few :P

    Godaddy is evil

  • who's your daddy

    • Pierre…

      Why?

Friends do NOT let friends register domains with GoDaddy.

  • Saved me looking around for a voucher that works for Oz… trouble is I usually have a couple of domains that need to be renewed each month, and finding two different codes that work can be a pain. I generally switch my domains between Godaddy and another registry each year.
