Bosch 7kg Front Load Washer and $50 store credit - WAK24160AU - $699 Pickup - The Good Guys

160

WAK24160AU Bosch 7kg washing machine for $699 plus $50 store credit back if do click and collect, making effective $649 if you have a use for the store credit.

I believe the WAK24160AU is the replacement model for the WAP24160AU which was one of the top rated washing machines by Choice magazine. $699 pick up is the second cheapest I can find ($674 at Betta) but the $50 store credit brings this down to effective $649. TGG web page indicates that it is an advertised special although I have no idea where it was advertised, I only found it by searching around.

Betta have it for $674 but no store credit so depends on your view of things like store credit (and the nearest Betta to me is some 40km or so away).
Retravision have it for $777.
David Jones have it for $849.
Appliances Online have it for $801.

The $50 store credit voucher is if you do click and collect. But be aware that gross weight is 77kg or something so it is not light. The store credit offer expires 5th June, but the $699 price runs until 8th June.

  • The price probably has been better back in March during the 20% off sale on their ebay store:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187802

But if you missed that, this might be a deal for you.

    • Good point.

Out of curiosity I tried google cache to see what previous TGG prices have been (I haven't been tracking them, I've only started researching in last 24hrs looking for quick purchase).

Google Cache says price was $839 on 1st June. So current price (with store credit) better than 20% off 1st June price. But no idea what the price was back in March.

No idea if I can make google cache go back further or to a custom date, I couldn't see a way to do it easily anyway.

I got a similar one to this but an older model. They are great machines but when they spin, boy do you know about it (and so does anyone living below you in an apartment block). Maybe the newer models don't shake as much.

    • +2

Generally if they shake they're not levelled properly so Id be checking that, spirit measure is what you need and your models manual should say where to check, which will be multiple points, to ensure that its properly levelled.

      • Thanks I'll check it out. I am pretty sure mine is level and it just shakes because it spins so fast. If I use a cycle that spins at 600rpm, then it doesn't shake at all. Typically it shakes on 800rpm or higher for me.

    • Great idea.

  • Can you buy it and then price promise (?) against Betta afterward?

Hi Perkinma. My machine packed up yesterday. Repair man advised me to look at Bosch, LG and Samsung. His preference was LG as spare parts are much more economical. E.g door handle for Bosch $90 vs $8 for LG. I will have a look around as 2 kids need clean clothes by the weekend!

  • hi, is this german or thailand made? thanks

    • At this price point it will be from Thailand.
German made ones are over $1K.

      • now made in India

  • +1

for those in Vic, $598 at E&S Trading from next week as part of their end of financial year sale.

    • couldn't find the model on their website. is this model in-store only? thanks!

      • +1

don't think all the Bosch models are on their website. its on the front page of their June EOFY catalogue.

  • Has anyone received the $50 store credit yet?

    • All good, have received mine today.
