Pakman Parcel Box $149, Mail Box $55 @Gotstock - Free Metro Del > $200 - Bunnings Pricebeat 10%

120

This box has a chute for dropping large parcels. It opens with a combination code. You can register it with couriers so that they can scan the barcode in lieu of a signature. I bought one recently, as my gate prevents easy delivery to my front door. This site used to sell it for $180, but now it's only $149. Bunnings should pricebeat by 10%, making it just $134. That is dirt cheap, as even basic letterboxes sell for more.

Delivery is $20 if you only buy the parcel box, but if you buy both you do not pay shipping (free shipping > $200). Bunnings will pricebeat on product price only if you buy both, as shipping is free.

The attachment for normal mail can be found here for the Quattro and here for the Orbis
I bought both when it was advertised at $180, by getting it pricebeat by Bunnings by 10%. Just had to show the website, no questions asked.
I remember Bunnings selling both products for >$300 total.

Gotstock delivers for free above $200 (so if you buy both, you're good). If you get it from Bunnings you will save, but it's a big box….

The product has holes for mounting (bottom), and "flaps" for putting in a concrete foundation.

For details on how the product works, see http://www.pakmanparcelbox.com.au/

Gotstock is "Wesfarmers", which should be good.

    plus $20 delivery in title…

    • +3

I left that out, because if you order the mail attachment (which I expect most people would), it will be $204 in total, and shipping is free. Bunnings will pricebeat this as it includes the shipping, in which case the shipping is also nill.

      • I left that out, because if you order the mail attachment

        your title states

        "Pakman Parcel Box - $149 @ Gotstock.com.au"

        It should say "$169 delivered"

You can't get it for $149…

        • Changed the title. Better?
I don't want to put $169 delivered, because for most purchases this would not apply.

        • @Make it so:

You could have put $149 + delivery.

@hollykryten: But I would run out of characters, and would not be able to mention the stuff that is relevant: that it is free shipping above $200, and that you can get it 10% cheaper at Bunnings. I put shipping in the description though.

        • @Make it so:

Available title space needs to be bigger I reckon.

$35 delivery for me to post code 4701, total $184. I'd say most people would be paying under $200 total for this so no free delivery for them.

By the way the free delivery for orders $200 or over is for metro locations only. Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne & Perth. Any where else still pays for shipping orders $200 or more.

          @Make it so:

and would not be able to mention the stuff that is relevant

the stuff that is relevant, is the total cost, which includes postage…

stating : "Pakman Parcel Box $149 @Gotstock" is wrong and misleading…

read the deal posting rules about what is required in a title…

How does this compare with Parcel Nest?

Will it hold two boxes of wine?

    • -1

You can give couriers the code to the door, so that they can place fragile things like win in it. Not sure how many boxes though.

    • The Pakman actually exists for one. It also looks sturdier and with the mailbox attachment would be neater.

Just installed the charcoal one along with the Orbis attachment last weekend. Looks nice, big and sturdy. Was easy to install on my front lawn as well. Needs 20kgs of pre-mix concrete if you are going for lawn installation. Don't buy a quick-set, just the the regular pre-mix (Just add water). It's $7.50 for a 20kg bag.

    • Don't buy a quick-set, just the the regular pre-mix

What if someone steals it before it sets?

      • +2

Shhhh they won't know that its not quick set..or a new mail box. Fill it up with some flyers and friday junk in the junk chute and people will think the mailbox been there for ages! :)

  • Installed one in the front fence - brick pillar (main unit + mail bit on top + install kit). Looks great!
Our postie doesn't seem to be a fan though, but we only just registered it to get notifications etc.
Hopefully it can now be used for signature deliveries - the main reason we got one.
    Seems quite solid.

    • Have one for over a year now and anything from Auspost with a signature will not be dropped. Basically only good for Fastway as that's the courier that has signed up for it

      See discussion here http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2219796

Good product but until auspost gets on board, it's kinda of useless…

      • Interesting - see the FAQ here:
        http://www.pakmanparcelbox.com.au/faqs/
        Specifically:
        1) Which couriers can deliver to my Pakman™?

All couriers, including Australia Post, can deliver to Pakman Parcel Boxes™.

        • They can deliver to it, but if a signature is required, some may refuse to leave it there.
For me, the issue is boxes being left outside. The Pakman can take quite large boxes in the chute.

@Make it so: Was I the only one that chuckled at this? "The Pakman can take quite large boxes in the chute."

        • +1

@Tiggrrrrr: Sorry, that was unintentional :)
Let me rephrase: it is very deep. Better?

Good find OP! You must have been watching gotstock website regularly.
Too bad i've already bought it the other day when you shared me the link. Got both for $205 (after 10% pricebeat & using giftcards)
I had no issues with bunnings price beating.

  • How dry does your mail and deliveries stay inside this box?

  • The problem I have with the lock on the parcel compartment is that the numbers are very tiny. I need to go down on my knees to actually operate the bl**dy locking device.
It does get a small amount of water in the postbox with heavy rain.

    • I noticed that too the other week. All the bills were soaked. I guess the opening should have a lip/awning to prevent rain from coming in.

    • Yep same here. I am planning to install a small LED light running off a 9V. The battery and switch will be on the top letter compartment which I can get to by opening it from the back with a key.

However no soaked letters at all even after some heavy rainfall…haven't got seriously heavy rainfall yet though.

And I have added a layer of thick foam at the end of the parcel area so small parcels which are kinda fragile and doesn't need a sign off can be dropped via the chute and not get damaged. :)

OK. Went to Bunnings to price match and pick up. They didn't have the main box in stock .. but I was able to order it at the matched price and I picked up the top section as they had that on hand… the back order should be in stock in a couple of days. Pretty happy have looked at these a few times now. Not so concerned about signature stuff (but that would be great).. but we get a few parcels left in the open at the door and I would rather they go here.

  • For those that already have this box, do you simply leave instructions for the courier along with the pin number?

    • The idea is that you put the pin inside the address. For couriers which use "mylocate", they obtain it through their system, but only fastway does that I believe. But the pin is only needed for things which cannot go through the chute (or are very fragile). The chute is quite big, and can fit an A3 box.

  • Hey guys, has the price gone back up to 180$? Or does it come up at 149$ somewhere else ?

    Thanks.

    • Yup, price has gone back. Hope some people managed to benefit from the reduced price.

      • Damn. Missed it. Was going to go tomorrow and get one. Thanks anyway.
