I have crashed many times throughout my years and not once has the insurance company asked me whether i have a passenger with me or not so i don't think comprehensive is the problem unless they change it in the future. I can see that if your passenger is hurt you might have a problem with ctp payout tho. If i were to drive for uber i would get something built like a tank.

The bottom line is Uber would not exist if the current taxi system was great value, had clean comfortable cars and the drivers were friendly and polite.

The taxi monopoly in this country is a joke and anyone arguing otherwise is an idiot.

    I love disruption.

  • I'm still waiting on someone who's really pissed at being an Uber driver and their insurance not pay out a claim for an accident that happened whilst they were on the job.

Also, has an Uber driver had anyone vomit in their vehicle and charged the passenger the fee required to clean?

    • Insurance companies don't ask if you had passengers after an accident or were working at the time, so it's likely that normal insurance payouts apply as normal.

      • You must have a very lenient insurance company. If they had one sniff of an Uber operation occurring in your vehicle (especially if police are involved) you would be on your own. Asking if you had passengers is irrelevant.

The beauty is with passenger feedback/rep you tend to get less drunk/violent/vomiting passengers.

Taxi drivers will become Uber drivers in the future if the uber markets grows enough. Unless cabs get better than Uber or cheaper. That's capitalism.
