  • Quick check, it looks like standard shipping is $5 US per package + $3 US per DVD

  • yeah… shipping is ouch

  • Shipping isn't great but the prices are!

Does anyone know much about the customs fees and taxes that might apply to these. I don't really buy international much, but my understanding is if it costs less than $1000 now there is no cumtoms tax. Not sure if this is right.

If no such fees apply it is a good deal.

    • if the rule hasn't changed then yes 1000 is the duty free limit.

    • I've been buying a lot from US lately with such good AUD rates and have never been charged customs tax. Mind you my purchases are usually less than $100 - things like books from UK depository bookstore or cosmetics from Strawberrynet.

  • How do they figure out how much something is worth i.e. if the shipment is less than $1000 or not?

  • The sender has to declare a value($) when shipping the item internationally and its usually written on the package also.

  • I've bought many DVDs, BluRay, books from Amazon. Never had a problem with customs.

Also Amazon customer service is first rate. If a package doesn't arrive they replace it, if something is damaged they replace it before asking you to return (at their expense) the damaged one.

  • so… we can't read "A" code here can we?

most of the Blu-rays on this site are listed as "region free" meaning they will play in any australian bluray player fine.

some are showing as Region A (locked) meaning they will only work in USA.
some are showing as Region A (region B & C untested) … so they may work, but no guarantees.

although the postage options could be a little cheaper.
i had the credit card out about to buy them, when i realised that including postage, its not really worth the wait when i can just go buy these movies on special at JBHIFI and Kmart etc for a couple of bucks extra and not have to wait.

not a bad deal in theory though…
