  • For those who usually fish for recreational/leisure, you can pick up 10 Egi Squid jigs (Size 3) for $25 + free postage from Sydney on eBay. Here

If you were to pay a bit more, might as well buy the premium Japanese jigs that are a lot better quality then the advertised Egi-Cast brand. eg: Shimano, Daiwa, Yamashita, Harimitsu Sumizoku etc. You could buy 4 Japanese squid jigs for roughly $39-$50 online, pretty sure if you searched hard enough you might find it cheaper. I only say this cause I get all my fishing gear directly from Japan so I've never had a reason to buy from an online store and just did a quick search.

I've been to a few fishing stores in Brisbane and have never seen these Egi-cast brands before, not talking about BFC or Anaconda but stores that sell only fishing gear.

I guess it depends on the audience you are trying to target but I personally think this isn't really a deal.

    • Sure you can buy 10 for $25. on ebay but you won't buy them again after you use them they are of very poor quality in matterails and swim /sink quality very low catch rate . Now where do you think Shimano, Daiwa, Yamashita, Harimitsu Sumizoku jigs are made ? where is the products they are made from ? or are they assembled under licence from private moulds and stock supplied, Egi cast have not been realised in to the QLD area yet the market up in Qld is very small (squid like colder water )have you had a read on EgiCast site about the jigs ,been to the Face book group Squid fishing on the moon ? or looked the up on Instagram ? before making your comment. Egi-Cast are on parr with all the brands you have named as far as the quilaty /product is.In test done over 3 years fished as well and most time out fished the one you said,This produced is made for The Australian market and conditions ,
You could buy 4 Japanese squid jigs for roughly $39-$50 online, in most cases they are old stock run out colours with a Japanese name Brand assambled under licence not made in Japan

As I mentioned, if you were a recreational or leisure fisherman you could buy 10 for $25. You could use then a couple of times before they degrade or if your lucky they might last as long as those Egi-cast brands that you are advertising. I don't think there are many people who are serious fishermans on Ozbargain and if they were they would have steered clear of this advertisement. I have never used those ones on eBay but for a person that isn't serious into fishing, its cheaper for them to purchase that and they get more.

As for those Japanese brands that I have mention, Those are made in Japan,. assembled and manufactured in Japan under their branding hence the premium price. As a diehard fisherman, I do a lot of research into buying all my fishing gear from rods & reels straight down to the hooks and sinkers, attending Japanese fishing convention shows, met and spoke to a Japanese fishing gear spokesman . As for the $39-$50 online, they are proudly made in Japan and are new models not old stock. I understand that some low end Shimano and Daiwa jigs in Australia can be made from Malaysia/China but once you start paying more they are definitely made in Japan. There are many Japanese fishing stores that import to Australia and all their high end gear that they sell are made in Japan.

Squid jigs at the end of the day are suitable for all water conditions, I have bought many squid jigs in Japan and have used it in Australian waters and it works. Squid jigging at the end of the day requires technique and luck, If I really wanted to I could purchase a cheap $2 jig and still catch squids with them.

I hate it when people try to shove a product down peoples throats when they assume the customer has no knowledge about a product. Using this type of jig you can catch Squid, Cuttlefish, Octopus, Sephia and any cephlapod species that swims. The word "Egi/Egingu" originated from Japan and is a Japanese technique.

At the end of the day, I would rather pay for a brand that I know and can trust rather than a small private business that you own. You can't expect people on Ozbargain to pay $33.97 for 4 squid jigs on a brand that's still developing and trying to branch out. If it was cheaper then I might be willing to try it out but at the price your advertising, there's no point.

RRP $14.99 at selected stores? Im sure you could find some jigs that were made and testing in Australia for a similar/cheaper price.

        • The best thing about life is you can have your opinions be it right or wrong ,Next time your in a fishing shop that stocks the jigs you like have a read of where the jig is made or assembled ,some read like MADE IN JAPAN ASSEMBLED IN CHINA ,MADE IN TAIWAN,MADE IN MALAYSIA, JAPAN QUALITY, I JUST WENT OUT AND READ ON BOXES OF JIGS I HAVE IN MY GARAGE ALL THE ONES ABOVE PLUS 2 OTHER BRANDS. Breaden.Yo Zuri .IN TOTAL 2 HAVE NO PLACE DETAILS OF WHERE THEY ARE MADE, under Australian import laws they should not pass Australian customs if they are to be sold In Australia THEY MUST HAVE WHERE THEY ARE MADE , you are so wrong on this point ,as i said we all can have your own opinion in life. I my self would never make comment on a product unless I had used it FIRST.

        • @leigh robinson: Actually I never said I purchase jigs in Australia, if you had read my original post in the beginning, I only purchase products DIRECT from Japan. On those jig boxes, they do say MADE IN JAPAN AND ASSEMBLED IN JAPAN. I also mentioned about importing jigs directly from Japan rather than purchasing it from Australia as they clearly have Made/Assembled/Manufactured in Japan. Australia's big corporate fishing brands have their own department here in OZ which is different to Japan so its hard enough to find products made/assembled/manufactured in Japan unless you go to a professional fishing store which imports directly from Japan. Majority of the time, yes you will find some saying made in Taiwan, Malaysia, etc etc.

You said you went out of your way to have a look at the packaging and couldn't spot any placement details of origin. Could the packaging be in Japanese? If it is, there's probably Japanese Kanji saying the product is made/assembled in Japan or you just have some cheap Japanese product that is marketed for Australia hence they don't have the proper labeling fake. Just because you have 2 jigs that have no product labeling doesn't mean all Japanese jig product boxes are the same. All Japanese products of high quality have ISO standardisations which meet Australian standards.

I've been to stores that specialises in fishing gear, although I don't purchase any jigs from them, they do stock Japanese jigs in which I can 100% stand by and say that they are made in Japan and manufactured in Japan. They also stock ones that aren't made in Japan either.

I am still going to stand correct to what I have said, I never mentioned in any of my comments about purchasing jigs in Australia.

You have your own opinions in life as well, sure I have never used YOUR jigs FIRST HAND and I don't think I ever will with that price your offering. You are not an associate but more of a Store Rep (Which the mod should change). Even your website has your username as the email.

On your website you have mentioned: "We have all our jigs made from private moulds and assembled from the best Japanese Materials under licence." No where does it say where the product is assembled or manufactured, it just says assembled "from the best Japanese material". For all I know, you guys import material from Japan but its probably manufactured elsewhere and then it gets shipped to your home.

          Another thing you mention
"Our long cast technology has been developed with the help of some of the best distance casters in the world, most have been Australian champions and still hold Australian distance records with light braid lines and todays technology".

If that was the case, how come the brand name isn't big? You would think that those Australian Champions would endorse and promote Egi-Cast like crazy if they thought your jigs were one of the best that Australia can offer.

I will always stand by my Japanese products that I know are manufactured, assembled and made in Japan. Been designed, tested and continually modified yearly.

As an Ozbargainer, I still don't think this is a deal. As mentioned by Argret and gummibear in the previous post you've done, Its just spamming and advertising.

  • What ever mate, this is Australia i would do business with an Australian store large or small before I would buy in from Japan if you can buy that item in Australia.

    • +1

Its people like you that give a bad name for Australian businesses. Try and target an audience on here, expect no one to have knowledge in that field, say its a good item and then sell it for an "affordable price". Sure what ever mate, if you want to dodge the questions and feedback's I give you then so be it.

The cheap alternative I have recommended is still providing business with-in Australia, I've only mentioned Japan due to the premium price that you are paying for. Australia is so far behind in regards to fishing, sure we have our little fishing conventions but they will never be big as America and Japan.

The fishing market is expensive compared to anywhere else but that's just Australia in general, your post that you have created just proves that some business are just greedy and have no care for their customers and are only in it for profit. Create some lousy information and try to sell it.

Almost every fishing brand is either Japanese or American so either way your still giving a small cut to them no matter if you were buying it online or in-stores.

At the end of the day, you could purchase a cheapie from BCF and could still catch something on it.
