  • This is Zenfone 2 is better?

    • +14

This or Zenfone 2, which one is better?

      Fixed it for you.

      • ha ha … type in too quick …. :p

        • no no typo too quick :-)

      • +5

G3 is better than Zenfone 2 especially at this price. Screen and battery life is very good on G3. Worth buying

    • +3

I can not comment about the overall performance of Zenfone2, but can confirm that thr camera on Zenfone2 is worst.

I would suggest you to go for LG G3

You won't regret. I'm using LG G3 right now and I love it.

      • Is the battery life really bad?

        • +1

I'm a heavy user, after the Android 5.0 update battery backup has been improved and I get around 5-6 hours of screen on time, which is good enough for someone like me with heavy usage

        • +1

          @OzSikhs:

5-6 hours on screen time seem better than Zenfone 2.

But some said the QHD is not good.

        • @superforever:
5-6 hours sounds not too bad. Not sure about the Zenfone 2, I only know playing games non stop on full brightness on the Zenfone2 is 3hrs and 27 minutes.
Without having either of these phones it's really hard to compare.

        • Just get a second battery

    • +6

Apply Coupon code “LOVE” at the checkout to get further $6 off.

So the final price, you'll be paying - $408

    • I like the lg…

Mainly because the Zenfone looks like a LG Issai ripoff.

  • Wonder when the price of the dual sim model will drop…

    • PLEASE BRING DOWN THE G3 DUAL SIM PHONR PRICE DOWN TOO :)

      • +2

Yeah man, please bring the price down 'cuz I've got my profile on Ashley Madison and SugaDaddy.com and I don't want the missus to suspect any dodgy thing going on. I always get nervous when she's lurking around my phone. A dual sim phone will give me a peace of mind.

  • +1

Apply Coupon code “LOVE” at the checkout to get further $6 off.

  • How is the Camera on the G3? I have read reviews raving on about the camera on the G4 with F1.8 lens and 1/2.6" sensor and image stabliser. Should I wait? Bit of a stupid question since the nobody would have a G4.

    • I've been holding out for the G4… but all these decent G3 deals lately have me sitting here with my wallet ready

    • +2

G4 camera is way better than the camera on any current smartphone available in the market.

But again, as G4 is the current flagship of LG and there would be a big Price difference between the New G4 and G3.

But G3 camera still rocks with OIS+

      • I have to agree. I had/tried 4 'flagship' phones, and the LG G3's camera was the best. It's super quick to take the picture, but it can take a second or two to appear.

  • +1

Im at the eglobal / paypal login screen and its still not showing free shipping ???

Its accepted the LOVE code (-$6.00) though.

  • does it support all 4G bands?

    • +1

      Almost… there's no 850MHz 4G so Vodafone users can only access 1800.

      • +1

And band-2600, since Vodafone rolled out this last year in October.

        • I thought only Telstra and Optus have 2600? At least the wiki page tells me Voda only has 1800 (old) and 850 (new).

      • What about Amaysim 4G Plus. I presume Amaysim uses Optus 4G Plus. It does say it supports LTE 700mhz, but the US 700mhz is different to the Australian LTE 700mhz band.

        • Yeah at the moment Australia uses 700 band 28, which is only used by only Taiwan other than here.

        • @clse945111:

          So it will work?

  • I applied code WB10 for $10 off but how to get free shipping, Shipping charges are coming up in Paypal.

  • The offer for free shipping ended Midnight on 3rd of May.

  • If you click "Add To Cart", you get the option to quick checkout with Paypal on the same page. You can pay the $414 through Paypal.

I don't think using any codes would work because it charges shipping in the actual cart screen. Otherwise "WB10" gives you $10 off.

    • Didn't work this way

  • If it doesn't work that way then it's my bad.

Using the code "WB10" will give you $10 off the $19 shipping for a final total of $425

    • Would you recommend Insured Economy Express Shipping for $27.28? Haven't bought from eGlobal before so curious to see if others here just use the standard Eco Express Shipping for $19.

      Thanks.

  • Ive tried three different ways , $414 is the cheapest i can get at paypal checkout screen…..

Edit. ahhh man. $425. cheers for trying anyway.

  • Can i claim gst back on this?

    • Grey import, so no.

  • Great price for a great phone. I've had mine now for a few months and love it. Easy to root and install TWRP and custom ROMs if that's your thing. Battery life is roughly 5-6 hours SOT depending on usage.

  • +1

DWI is doing around the same price with free Stylus pen.

  • This or samsung S5. any ideas?

    • +1

Tough call. This is more powerful, better screen and I think better camera. S5 battery would last longer, waterproof has some other gimmicks. I don't think you would be able to get the S5 for this cheap though.

    • +1

I have LG G3 and my work mate has S5.

He used my phone for sometime at work when I first bought it last year to see what LG is upto.

He told me that he actually liked G3 better than S5, his Galaxy S5 lags all the time because of Samsung Touchwiz.

With G3, I'm using it from last 7 months and can confirm that it is superfast and never lags providing its 32GB model with 3GB RAM.

    • G3 feels much more premium than the S5

  • I feel a bit jipped having the 3 buttons ON the screen.. Not really 5.5" of usable space? any one have comments that has actually used it?

    • Yeah soft button make it less display space.

Zenfone 2 is true 5.5" screen.

    • +1

There is a benefit, it makes your bezels smaller.

      • Not if you're Sony or HTC

        • +1

Lel. Iphone is a pretty bad offender as well, what with the Touch ID button taking all the space down the bottom.

          http://www.static.xperiablog.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/…

        • @scrimshaw:

Hmm… That diagram doesn't take into account onscreen buttons… and the phones are old.

And I'm not sure what you mean with the iPhone. It's got physical buttons..?

      • +1

Most phones with software buttons actually have around the same size for the bottom bezel, so I really don't get what the point of soft buttons is.

    • +4

Yeah i was worried about this too. But in real life usage its fine - for apps that really benefit from fullscreen, the buttons dissappear. And re-appear with a swipe. You can customise which apps this happens on.

      • That's actually pretty cool. benefit being you'd have a 5.5" screen most of the time on a generally smaller physical sized phone.

        • +1

And also even when you do have the physical buttons, you aren't generally left wanting for vertical space on a 16:9 phone in portrait mode.

        • +1

I am a physical button kinda guy, don't get me wrong. I do really miss having a hardware home button. But I am slowly getting used to it. But yeah, the on-screen buttons taking up screen realestate is a non-issue like I said.

  • HTC 826 may be a better option

  • also 1% cashback from http://www.cashrewards.com.au/shop

  • Dont buy this phone if you like your music….I did a demo of this and audio quality is poor on my high end iem's vs my galaxy s3

    • Do you mean the headphones or speakers?

    • I disagree on this.

LG G3 has good quality speaker (1W) and I owned this device from last 7 months and never had any problem.

    • +1

pengo means headphones. Duh. Not speakers

Sorely disappointed if true. I'm fine without headphone amps etc, but I've still got very nice IEMs.

      • It sounds great with my HD598s, not quite as good as something with a proper amp for the low end but otherwise fine. No issues with IEMs. Doesn't get that loud though.

  • headphones…I said IEM !

probably does not matter unless you have high end heaphones….but this phones is very noisy….really bad. Most people wont hear it though

    • I know what u mean. My G2 does the same with hissing noise…

  • +3

If my Nexus 4 wasn't still working perfect Id be all over this..Although the battery life would be nice I doesn't warrant the upgrade to me yet.

    • +3

Same, waiting for mine to die already… please…

  • Will it be able to upgrade to the latest android update? I haven't been following the android scene recently.

    • +2

It's already been updated to latest Android 5.0 lollipop by LG.

  • Just wondering is this a grey import?

    EDIT: NM, Answered above.

  • +3

now my phone searching will rest in peace :)

    • +1

      Good choice

  • I have this phone and I actually don't really like it. The Swype function is horrendous (pretty unresponsive - it can't keep up and doesn't seem to hop between words like my old Samsung s3. I don't even type fast!). Camera also not that great like people make out. Mine has focus issues (picture is focused on screen and then when photo is taken it's out of focus). Never had that problem with a phone before.

Maybe I have a dud but I wouldn't buy another.

    • +2

May be you just have a faulty device.

Because my experience is totally opposite to what you said above in your comment.

I Never had any of the problem you mentioned. Mine Works flawlessly without any issue.

I have bought another one today for my misus.

    • +1

      31mop is it 3gb or 2gb version?

People also have different standards I notice when it comes to phones. Some people don't seem to notice lag as much as others.

      • 3gb.. Bought end of last year.

      • You never had focus issues with other phones because this one has a laser autofocus, like point-and-shoot cameras
      • Swype: have you tried any other keyboard app?
      • treeauto focus then would ours?

The above is me writing the following using its Swype function…

If the auto focus is better then why would it be an issue for me?

  • +2

Looks like this deal has been beaten by DWI's.

    • +1

Just reminder that DWI has 2% PayPal surcharge.

    • +1

DWI charges 2% surcharge for using Paypal

So all together would cost you $423, not much difference

      • Would you trust DWI with free uninsured shipping?

  • +1

Got mine in the mail today from eglobal. Loving it so far.

    • If I may ask, when did you place your order?

      • Placed my order on the 3rd May. Dispatched 6th May, arrive 8th.:)

What are the pros and cons of buying phones straight out rather than getting them on a plan? I imagine the plan gives more value than buying a phone then paying monthly for credit.

    • +1

You couldnt be more wrong. Going on a plan will always be more expensive than buying a phone then paying for credit.

The only pros of a plan is that you get a phone without needing to have the money upfront.

Buying the phone then shop around for your carrier give you a lot more freedom, you can always jump to a different carrier should they offer a better deal(you cant do this with a lock-in contract).

Same principle apply to buying anything really. House, car, home appliance, paying upfront is always cheaper than paying in installment. It just like getting a loan but the interest is pre-calculated by the tel-cos.

      • Yeah that definitely makes sense. Those factors really do play a big factor, but take a look at my other post, it seems as though that convenience can be offset by the price.

    • +1

Because most phone plans that include a phone either want you to pay a lot each month ($60+) or include next to no data or usage. And they often lock you into a 24 month contract.

For example in my case I'm going the LG G3 for $415 outright and then the Vodafone business plan for $42 a month with 8GB of data.
So if looked at over 24 months the actual cost is $60 a month. To get the same phone/plan through vodafone would cost you $80 a month. So you're saving $20 a month and you're not locked into a 24 month contract

EDIT: Oh and it looks like the Vodafone version is 16GB and 2GB or ram instead of the 32GB and 3GB of this version… Thanks man0k

That's just a simple comparison. It's rarely cheaper to get a phone on a plan. The only real benefit is you can pay it off over the 24 months instead of outright.

      • Thanks for the reply dude. So this is my reasoning:

LG G3 with vodafone is $46 plan, I've negotiated with voda to get it for $40 which is an okay deal. 40*24=$960 over two years. As opposed to buying this phone for $425 then paying $30 a month for a pre-paid credit sim, which gives you $1145. Obviously you're getting better value out of the sim, but the fact remains that you're paying ~200 extra. Plus you can return the phone to a voda store if there's ever a problem, etc.

If my logic is a bit off please let me know!

        • +2

Your problem is that you assume people buy the phone then pay $30 credit monthly with vodafone.

$30 a month with vodafone only give $300 credit( with overly inflate rate as well) and a measly 300mb download.

This is the equivalent to a $16 a month play from vaya or $19 a month from live connect.

Doing simple math, after 24 month you would have spend:

          $16x24 + $425 = $809 with vaya
          $19x24 + $425 + $20 (first time connection fee) = $901 with live connect

You can see that both are cheaper than your vodafone deal. Your $10/month discount you got is a personal one, who know how you how or why they would gave you such discount(may be you are a long time customer, may be you got lucky, may be your negotiation skill is great). For your average Joe 24 month with vodafone would have cost them $1104.

Right now i am with a vaya $18 plan ( $650 call credit and 1.5 GB data) and it would cost me $857 after 24 month if i was to buy a LG G3 right now.
Now not only that i get double your call credit a month, and 5 times your download allowance. I also get a better phone ( the phone you get with voda is a 16GB, the one on this deal is 32GB) and paying less over 24 month with no lock-in contract to boot.

        • +1

I'm paying $460 extra over 24 months and I get:
          8GB a month vs your 300MB a month
Unlimited Calls/text vs your $300 worth
I'm month to month vs your 24 month contract.
          3GB/32GB G3 vs your 2GB/16GB G3

So yeah your logic is a bit off :) You've gone on the cheapest plan to get the phone included which is fine but in all honesty unless you're always on wifi I'd question why you're buying a smartphone in the first place if all you have to use is 300MB a month :/

        • @stratbargain:

Thanks dude, yeah that helps. I honestly don't use much data, at home and work I have wifi, so no need to ever really use data. I'm pretty intrigued though, will most likely move to pre-paid.

Who are you with if you don't mind my asking?

        • @highdealer:

          Thanks!

        • @Callandor:
I'm on the Vodafone business $60 plan which is $42 if you sign up this month.

          http://www.vodafone.com.au/business/products-and-services/bu…

There are plenty of cheaper pre-paid/month-to-month options with less data though. It's worth looking around.

    • +1

You can go for pre paid and always change plans for promotions

      • Yeah if you are willing to switch plans all the time, you can easily get away with $15-20 a month with plenty of calls and data inclusions. I have two numbers (one permanent) all the time. :P I only regret I gave up my old woolworths plan of 5gb for 45 days. I naively thought better plans would be out now.

  • @callandor
This is the 3gb variant, which has more ram then the ones available on a plan, plus the price of a m2m as opposed to 24mt lock in contract, and better value buying this outright and getting sim card on its own
