It's a good price, but how good is the radio ?

    • Very good and clear sound

    • +1

I got a Bush DAB+ clock radio last year from DSE.
It lasted 24hrs before I took it back.
The clock worked, but I could only get the DAB radio to work if I ran an extension cord outside. (that's top storey, on a hill <10kms from Melb CBD).

    • +2

I have this radio for my desk at work and it delivers on requirement. I have had no major reception issue in the middle of Brisbane and it has a headphone jack if required. I wouldn't expect booming volume from it but for background noise it is fine.

      No.

  • mixed sites saying if it has an alarm or not. can someone confirm?

    • I cannot find an alarm function on my one (have lost the manual). They maybe getting confused with sleep mode (puts it to sleep after a while) which it does have.

  • +4

DSE is not the greatest for reliable specs to be fair. Yr much better using another site to compare.

  • Mixed reviews.

Looks like there is a problem with the utilisation of the batteries. Some say that it uses battery even tho it is turned off.

Bush recommendation however is to take out the batteries when it is not in-use. Pretty good workaround :D

  • Here is a link to the manual for those interested.. http://www.bushaustralia.com.au/wp-file-browser-top/bushmanu…

  • This unit is pretty specless (if there's such a word)….I'm on the lookout for a DAB+ but need an alarm.

Apparently 3W is considered high power ;)

Finally ordered an item from one of my own deals lol. Thanks OP.

Will pick it up on the weekend and get back to you sir.

      • +3

OK jv. Couldn't wait, so I picked it up today. Comes with adapter, but no batteries. Easy to set up. When you put new batteries in and turn it on the first time, it scans for new DAB channels. Sound quality is excellent for a radio of this size. Put my wife's Beats headphones into the socket and was blown away by the sound. There are 10 presets for DAB and another 10 for FM. You can adjust timeout length for the display light, has sleep timer as well. The only thing I don't like is when you hit the power button to turn it off, it keeps playing for 5 seconds before shutting down… weird. Been running it on 4 Eneloops since 5pm. If you need to know anything else, please ask. Cheers.

        • it keeps playing for 5 seconds before shutting down… weird.

          might be a buffer…

        • @jv:

Ye, but why? Can't see think of any good reason for it. Anyway, for $29 it's a little ripper. Gonna see how long these Eneloops last, and whether they go flat in standby mode as suggested elsewhere.

        • @tightarse

Ye, but why? Can't see think of any good reason for it.

Digital radios sometimes allow you to rewind back, or to pause audio…

        • @jv:

Good point. No pause on this one though.

        • +1

          @tightarse:

No pause on this one though.

The internal electronics might support it though, but they don't add the features to make the model cheaper perhaps ???

        • @tightarse:

When you turn it on, does it take a similar amount of seconds to start playing ??? That would confirm the buffer theory…

        • @jv: Yep.

  • +2

audio out? headphone 3.5 mm good for connecting to amp stereo audio in?

    • Yes. Just need a 3.5mm to RCA cable (e.g. this one )
I was thinking of doing that, but seeing the horrible bitrates of digital radio, it's just not worth it. See this website for bitrates of your favourite stations in your area.

      • +2

anythings better than my current fuzzy 3AW on the amp

  • It's a $10 off voucher, so if you order more than one you still only get $10 off :-(

    • yes, that sounds logical

  • out of stock now

  • +1

Damn I really wanted to buy one at this price!

    • +1

Get one while you can. See the updated post.

      • Haha thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately I think it's too late now :(

  • +15

I just bought one - I looked under Audio & MP3 tab at top of home page then select Bush from the brand section, when next page loads click on "check store stock" next to this radio and select your store of choice based on your postcode select "collect from here" then go to checkout and enter the code then pay.

    I received an email confirmation.

    • Awesome work!! Will update the post.

    • Just worked for me too. Thanks

    • Thanks, worked for me too.

    • worked for me too, cheers!

I didn't know Dick sold Bush.

    • Dick does.

    • +1

Dick is trimming the Bush to make the trees look taller.

    • I wonder if Dick prefers bush or bushless?

  • Workaround worked for me, although it dropped the discount as I logged in so watch out for that. Ordered one for pickup so we'll see what happens!

  • Link says Temporarily out of stock

    • Seems to let you add to cart still, but not select delivery or c+c.

  • I followed Malbies directions and had no problems placing my order. Confirmation email received. Just waiting on Click and Collect email. Thanks TA.

  • Does this run on ac? come with an adapter? or only batteries

    • Acca Dacca.

      External power pack.

  • Still working. I've joined the bush club.

    Thanks

  • i got a similarly featured cheap DAB+/FM from Aldi for similar price ages ago. The thing that actually makes it sing is the audio/headphones out access- I plugged in some decent quality computer spare 2.1 bluetooth speakers (that i had planned for a turntable project) and the setup is great. the key is not to use the standard speaker. also i've had a couple and the aerial is key.. however the aerial works just point that thing or tape it to the wall with blutack and get it as high as possible hehe.

  • Lol the sale went through, but I screwed up. I forgot to put the $10 code off. Do you think they'll let me cancel the order?

    • +1

After all you went through to get one lol :)

Send a PM to Dick explaining what happened. I'm sure he'll take care of it.

      • Thanks TA, they refunded me the $10! :)

  • Just paid click and collect at Whitfords WA, also showing stock at Joondalup.

    Thanks OP

  • Still works just bought one for the $29 thanks for the workaround on the stock issue.

  • Anyone know if logitech sells any DAB products..

I prefer their brand for better quality and warranty.

Also why is the car stereo not have DAB+ yet?

  • +1

picked this up in Perth (wesley arcade). There were about six in the cupboard waiting for collection. The guy behind the counter said "its weird, I'm not sure why these are so popular today.."

    • Classic. Thanks for the feedback.

  • +1

I have a couple of Sangean DPR69's, DPR 67's (I leave them in different rooms) and they are more expensive, even on sale, but sound much better than this Bush radio which I bought from TGG last week (ozbargain). The Bush sounds a little tinny compared to the Sangeans, but probably similar to the Sangean DPR 65, which is much cheaper and doesn't sound as good as the other two. There are no dedicated memory buttons, you have to push a button and scroll down another button to see the 10 memories and then select the station you want via another button. The Sangeans have 5 dedicated buttons for presets.

My 69s and 67s all develop a really annoying fault. Quite frequently they won't turn on when you push the power button, and when you try to turn them off, they turn off but restart by themselves after 5 seconds. You have to try a few times to get them to listen to you.

    • -1

They are radios - you're supposed to listen to them.

    • "when you try to turn them off, they turn off but restart by themselves after 5 seconds."

That's really strange because this radio does that too. Maybe something common with DAB radios?

  • worked as picked up for the bush radio. thanks!

  • +1

Picked one up today and it's a pretty nifty device especially at its price point. I'm using it to listen to the radio via headphones at the office and does the job pretty damn well.

    Thanks OP.

    • Did you forget to vote?

      • Whoops I must have forgotten.

However my unit seems to have died after a few hours use. Now it is telling me that all services are unavailable :S

I think it is time to visit Dick Smith again… sigh…

  • Ordered. Thanks for the OP and the workaround
