Here's what GSMarena.com thinks they have inside the case:
Makes a great 3G wifi hotspot :) For people like me who are lucky enough to still have a $2 Optus Unlimited 3G sim :)
I used this seller on eBay $1.90 to unlock the phone [fonecare_codes] (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Unlock-Alcatel-OneTouch-POP-C1-PI…)
Anyone who buys this over the Y550 at Harvey Norman for $40 (with discount code) for an ordinary phone has rocks in their head! I have both but only use the Alcatel as a home phone/wifi hotspot. The Y550 SLAUGHTER's it in performance, specs, ease of use etc.
I bought a y550 yesterday for the sole purpose of being a 4g modem/better spare phone.
i am very much surprised by it's performance.
shame i cant get it unlocked yet i bought the unlock code on ebay and seller says the server where all the unlock codes come from is not working atm so he refunded me.Unfortunately the Y550 does not have 3 months free Netflix?
The 3 months free Netflix makes this phone effectively $3 Optus phone or a $5 unlocked phone ( as per junk collection's update above )
Hard to beat this value IMOY550 comes with $50 vodafone prepaid cap. which makes it $0
@holden93: Fair enough point , I'm happy with my VAYA connection though , so no moving to Voda in the near future
Yeah the Y550 is incredible phone for it's price. The battery life is incredible too on that phone, I couldn't believe it could get 10 hours screen on time.
I have been testing mine on idle, with a sim card in connected to wifi, 4 days 20 hours, 67% battery remaining..
Is the Y550 with optus?
It's locked to Voda but you can unlock for $2.20 from bagman. I'm using mine on optus after unlocking, works fine.
This or the Sony Xperia E1…
If you want netflix, by all means! The predictive text isn't bad!
According to optus website, you need to activate the Sim to get the netflix..
So difficult to stack on top of existing Netflix..?
I guess at least this one you can use as a 3G modem and gps.
