Because technically that isn't correct and doesn't match the promotion (eg. if you buy 2 boosts with different prices).
they're being confusing. or it could be a ploy to not devalue the brand.

Simple explanation:
If you buy a $6 drink and a $5 drink,
BOGOF would require you to pay $6 (since the lower priced item is free).
However, with this promo of 50% off, you would only pay $5.50 (since it's half price).
This makes this promo better than BOGOF.
