That's unlocked
Not really a bargain to get a $189 phone to save $36 on netflix…
Not in Australia anyway….

Any one knows how to unlock this cheaply?
Tried to google but have to provide imei and not guaranteedGet the Optus ZTE F286 $14.50 from your Nearest Coles.
For more info check https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/190432Thank but i actually need a cheap but decent 4G phone
There's the ZTE Fit 4G but I don't know how decent it is.
HUAWEI Y550 $49
That is not Optus.
Seems like a decent Samsung mobile for the money. If all those bands listed in specs are on this model ( not different bands on specific models only like most ), then this is a good 4G phone to get, especially if you can utilise the Optus 900 mHz band 8, or Telstra 700 mHz band 28 when/if using unlocked on their networks ( has 3G 850 & 900 also. This is more bands than our favourite mobile 4G bargain, the Voda Huawie Y550.
It looks like it has all the 4G bands currently used in AU which is impressive. And NFC. Otherwise it looks pretty similar to the Y550 in spec. If they start selling this one soon for less than $50 I'll be kicking myself.
Hahaha. First of it's Optus prepaid and not Voda ( currently have aggressive marketing and pricing ),and it's Samsung and not Huawie. No chance :-) I will also happily stick to my Y550 as a back up phone for $45 + $50 credit cap included. Apart from the crazy priced Y550 and Direct China imports, this Sammy is a decently specced phone for under $200 with as mentioned above all current Aussy 4G bands, NFC, slightly better video recording @ 1080P x 30fps and I would say the most important benefit 8GB ( around 5 1/2 to 6 after O/S and installed Apps ) memory compared to the only 4GB ( 2GB ) for the Y550. Not so sure about the TFT screen? Looks to me like Samsung is competing a bit with the Moto G here.
I missed the memory difference but it looks the Huawei wins with the higher density IPS screen. Spec-wise its closer to the Huawei than the Moto G. Do we have an locked Moto G 4Gs to compare it with price wise?
@Stingo:
Your right on the locked part, and Samsungs are harder to get easy unlock for. Still, I was referring more to peoples brand and price choice, not a whole lot of choice for a decent 4G phone under $260 unless you go for grey import or lesser known brand. I liked the Huawie Y550 for $89 ( with $50 credit cap ), but for under $50 ( also with credit ) love it even more and have bought 3 others for gifts and friends. At that price, value for money it wins hands down. Definite Bargain enjoyed by many here :-)
I was merely pointing out some details that might matter to others here.No criticism intended. It's very hard to get all the AU bands in a cheap phone. There might be better cheaper phones but invariably they lack some band or other. I'm very impressed with the band support in this phone. If only it was a dual SIM. I wonder what it costs to unlock.
Sadly, I'm still waiting for my Y550 it will be my first touch screen phone.
@Stingo:
Wow, that's late adoption, but not necessarily a bad thing. You are entering a mature market now, and if you can get the Y550 with the $50 cap credit your doing well. If you pick it up for around $50 for both you have done super well.
I am now on my 6th touch screen smartphone, none over $280, but adding to around $900 for my evolution of phones/toys :-)
You should get good use and value out of your Y550. Enjoy :-)All the wait staff and counter assistants with their latest iPhones and top-end Samsungs will still look down on me.
I'm not too fussed about the starter kit. I don't have much use for unlimited calls and text and 3GB of data doesn't go far - although there are unlimited data weekends atm. I wish it were a lower value voucher, I can buy data with those.Still good thrown in for free. You could always try selling that on GumTree for a bit of return. How much data can you buy with a $30 or $40 Voda Cap?
Yes, but I don't know its worth the hassle or risk. Because I got in before they changed the rules I can buy 9.8GB on a $30 cap, 16.1GB on a $40 cap or an additional 1.05GB on the $50 cap. Like the current data packs it rolls over with purchase of another data pack before the expiry date which I can do for just $2 using the cap credit from mini-cap.
How much is it normally ???
