$2.50 for $25 go catch code for new members only at Groupon.
For those who don't know, Uber still has plenty of Free $20 or $25 codes like : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/184687 , https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/184682 .. Etc.
So, Save yourself a sweet $2.5 and use Uber.
Peace !!
Is that really a valid reason for a neg? This is a different type of service, and those are mostly one per account.
(I don't like Ubers business practices or the service quality from cabs so not taking sides)
My neg was to let people know this is not a good deal. Just the fact that you don't like Uber doesn't mean Uber is bad. Uber and Gocatch are competitors and when one of them is giving stuffs for free, paying for another one is a NO DEAL for me.
Also, this is a first time user code which they were giving for free until recently (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/183768) and I'm pretty sure will do it again. My understanding is that Groupon is trying to make money off of people who don't know that there are other free equivalent options hence the Neg.
I have used Uber and GoCatch. I have noticed that in busy times Uber prices can go from 1.5 to 4 times the price so useful to have some almost free taxi credit with Gocatch which works really well.
Be very careful with GoCatch. I took a ride using the previous free voucher and the driver refused payment using the app. He said that his account wasn't set up for the app completely yet (although he was still using it to take fares!).
I had to end up paying cash.
That sounds dodgy as hell.
When you book the taxi tell the driver you want to pay with the app.
I will do that if I end up using the service again. But I shouldn't really have to!
I assume that GoCatch was created to compete with the likes of Uber. With Uber, I never have to consider the possibility that I'll have to turn the driver away when they arrive because they haven't set up the app properly. It's a poor service.
I actually used a promo code for $25 free credit with uber, it was meant for perth only but successfully applied to my account, when I got my uber driver and got dropped off at the destination it charged the full fare and didn't deduct $25. I followed up with uber and they did credit the $25 refund back to my paypal account but I'm just saying the issue can happen to both companies.
Had a similar thing happen to me, but managed to apply a US promo code to my account. Uber CS was amazing; they just apologised and credited me with the voucher amount instead, so I didn't even need to use it in one transaction..
GoCatch on the other hand I've had similar issues when no one will accept my fare offer.. :/
oic $2.50 for a intro offer code…
