[Android, Win & WP 8.1] Two Premium Travel Guides for Free with tripwolf (Save $4.49-$10.27 ea)

120

tripwolf celebrates the launching of its new universal app for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1, and its optimised app for Android tablets by offering a free premium travel guide.

Install and start the tripwolf apps for Windows Phone 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Android, and select and download a premium travel guide for free on 3 April (US, 4 April in Australia) only.

I do not know how tripwolf keeps its purchase records because I got for free four different guides on four different devices (Windows Phone, Windows, Android phone & Android tablet; same Microsoft & Google accounts). However the app on each device cannot see that I have already "purchased" a guide on the other three devices.

There is also an app for iOS, but I cannot confirm if the deal is offered to Apple users since I do not own an iDevice.

On Windows Phone & Windows, guides for cities & regions cost $4.49 and for countries $6.99. On Android, guides generally cost more and have variable prices (typically $6.24 to $10.27).

Edit: One more free premium travel guide with coupon code piratesuk thanks to TurnipHead and Holiday Pirates. Expiry 12 April US, 13 April Australia.

Unfortunately, the deal doesn't appear to apply to iOS app users (as implied in the description).

    Great for the
    widow phone support

  • How do you activate this? when i navigate to a premium guide for france it costs $10.27
there is a free option only for the limited content and features version?

    • On Android, I just got the option for the free download of the first premium guide after installation of the app - no activation required. You could try removing and re-installing the app I guess.

  • if these are good, the way to buy is "tripwolf unlimited" for ~ A$72

    • how much storage would each / all guides consume?
would we need to devote an entire device (eg, 64gb store + 64gb microSd card, or more - eg, with a 21" All-in-One desktop Android system, with an external USB hard drive attached?

  • Appears to be a bit random - I didn't get the offer but do have discounts for some cities in the special offers tab

Download Tripwolf app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
Select Unlimited package or destination of your choice
    Coupon Code: piratesuk
    End Date: 12 April 2015

    • It seems to work with the code piratesuk on android thx TurnipHead

  • They don't have Mauritius or Hawaii. Although it looks like they have Honolulu.

  • Thanks used piratesuk to get tripwolf unlimited for $14.95 now I have access to all the guides

    • +1 I got the $14.95 price, but couldn't use our $22 Rewards credit to pay that peice.

  • Just a quick word of warning on Android at least. I ALWAYS have a running TripWolf on my Android even when I haven't started it. It's one of those background applications sapping resources even when not wanted.

yeah noticed that and it checking my location unnecessarily too. Just Greenify it and turn off location in App Ops :)

      • Great tip (Greenify), I used a start-up manager before, but even though I'd disabled all user-land apps from starting they still tended to.

        Hopefully this works better!

I'll try it from now on. Thanks TH!

P.S. I realize freemium apps need to make money somehow, but slipping into a running state when you're not using them and sapping my battery/ram/cpu remind me of how crappy a lot of Windows Apps have become (Yes Adobe, McAfee, Ask, iTunes (and associated Apple crap) to name and shame a few.)

This is getting just as ridiculous…..

      • We consistently keep GPS Off, as well as the option to share my location (eg, from wireless cell towers, etc.

And - as a policy - we don't [knowingly] share any of ourdevice's location with apps.

All this to keep resource usage to a minimum.
