Don't forget to price beat with Jetstar, that way there will be more than the limited amount of Tickets than tiger has, plus you'll get an extra 10% off and no booking fees.

    • You'll also actually get a flight too & wont be left stranded with no notice or refund.

  • Don't forget the extra charge from April 17th for carry on baggage over 7KG: http://finance.ninemsn.com.au/newsbusiness/aap/8967922/tiger…

I have never tried their services, maybe will try it on my next trip.

Firstly, no offense to the OP so I am not negging this deal but let me also share with you all my first hand nightmare experience with Tiger and as far as I am concern me and my family members will NEVER EVER fly Tiger again even if it is free airfare….why you asked?
We were as on my way last year from Gold coast holiday pre-paid excess kg no worries as I pre-paid 40KG in excess kilo….thought just to be safe anyway. Check my luggage weight before I went to airport and hotel weigh it and advice it is just a tad over at 40.80kg thought it is all good….wrong! Maybe it is my bad luck but it seems to me they try very hard and look at every conceivable way to charge you. They first weigh my luggage separately and said it was ~20.7kg from memory so they rounded it up to 21kg and say I exceed by 1 kg and I also purchased 20kg for my wife and myself and then they weigh my wife's and did the same and she also exceeded just over the 20.50kg so all of a sudden we were overweight according to them by 2kg; once again due to rounding up for both not taken in to consideration and then quoting t more than it was and their argument was if it was under 20.50 would have rounded downwards and I argues were just a tad over 1kg if they had combined the weight of 40kg we PREPAID and ask to see her supervisor (which is even worse; an obnoxious person); given the fact we were only barely just over 20kg each and we already pre-paid in advance 40kg so margin of error from hotel is only 0.025% only for goodness sake and I never heard off anyone being charged for under 1kg overweight and rounded up just to rip you off!
When I argued about the rounding and combined we should be charged for 1kg only she placed her authority and said we now have to weigh in my wife's and teenage daughter's handbag as well; literally everything besides the clothes we were wearing even an empty water bottle…..and Voila the supervisor argue we were overweight by 4.5kgs now…..we had to throw away some stuff and my daughter had to giveaway her 2 big Teddy Bear (won at games timezone and she was honestly going to give it as a charity Christmas gift to needy kids and told the supervisor herself));otherwise we would be charged the 5kg overweight; maybe all because I argued about being overweight by 1.2kg and the obnoxious Supervisor to save face or is it just me unlucky?

And because of the incident taking time and it was nearly time to fly off, she warned us we can either pay up and miss your flight or you will be charged extras for next flight or unaccompanied baggage fee as well and we were bullied to pay the excess 2kg for something like $38 from memory and throw/giveaway away all the stuff we do not really need including the teddy bears to make it to just under 2 kg and this is including the weight allowance of two womens handbag and content, seriously how low is that that??
Realistically if you have a carry bag that weighs something like 1.5kg and your women handbag that is 1kg how much do have left in your 7 kg allowance……I let you be the judge if this Airline is worth the risk?

Personally only one word for me to describe Tiger Airline…..PATHETIC!!!
For the record my booking was KD7ZVX and we most certainly do not work or have any ties with any other airline or in the industry.

Initial thought: What on earth are you bringing to Gold Coast for a holiday? 20 kg each?

        Then you mentioned kids. Understandable.

      • That's a pretty crazy experience. I've mostly had painless dealings with Tiger. Just FYI, their maximum limit of luggage is 40kg, but that rounding is just bad practice. :/ I'd send them an email with your story and see what they say.

        • That is exactly what I was trying to to do, make people aware of their so call ""policy"" as you might even weigh in fine at home but if it is not the same weight accuracy on their scale then you could still be screwed, being overweight at the airport.
So in our case we exceed weight per person of just 400gm per person and that is including 2 womens handbags weighted as well, which I had never seen being exercised with any other airline even though technically they could treat it as part of your allowance.
Most other airlines would not blink an eye if you exceed only by 400gm per person and would not try to do any dodgy deals of rounding per customer when you are check-in as a family or ask you to weigh in your personal handbag!
So for those of you intend to travel Tiger good luck; you'd better make sure you scales are correct including your ladies-men handbag and your carry-on luggage or you might end up like us.
IMHO not worth it, I'd rather get it price matched at JetStar and get 10% extra price matched as well!

      • Jetstar did the exact same thing to me by the way. They had scales at the departure gate weighing people. I knew I was a tad bit over so I tried to avoid it but eventually they came up and asked to weigh our bags. We were both half a kilo over, so they said I'd have to pay at something ridiculous like $40/kg. When I complained, they added the weight of a small handbag (weighed about 0.5kg) to make the weight go up further.
We had to take out all the heavy items of our bags and wear them. Also had to chuck out a few items. When we came back, they didn't even weigh us again.

Remember to combine with promo code TIGER10

    • 10% off?

      • Not sure. I was booking a $99 flight in August and it got discounted to $87.

        • Did you make the booking in August or recently?

        • +1

@sween64: Haven't booked yet. Was looking at dates.

It seems the promo code doesn't apply to sale fares (eg. this sale).

  • hi

is there a hope in hell i could achieve similar flight fares for travel in the july and september school holidays ?

if so when and where to look ?

    thanks

    • supply and demand would seem to say no, because that's when they can make the most money off you
      Cant help you there. sorry

    • Try the TIGER10 code I mentioned above. As it's school holidays, it won't be a sale fare so you'll get at least 10% off (up to 15% by my experience).

Remember to book using a mastercard. Credit or debit, doesn't matter. I use a credit and just choose debit from the list — they don't check! As long as the card number starts with 51-55.

Also, price match if possible! Jetstar will also price match third-party websites such as Tripsta/Bravo/Tripgenio and anything else you can find via Momondo (great comparison website).
I'm looking right now and third-party agents have very cheap prices for Virgin. All Virgin flights now include baggage, which Jetstar will match. So an $84 Virgin fare becomes $75 with 20kg baggage no booking fee. That's the same as price matching a $60 Tiger flight if you wanted baggage.

      Hope that helps!

Awesome OP just got a return flight with Jetstar and seat select for $64. Unfortunately the TIGER10 code doesn't apply to sale fares but if you call Jetstar rather than use the chat you could save yourself 30 minutes.

    • call is better. agree. +1 for that.

  • If I'm a tad over-weight with luggage, I put on as many heavy clothes as I can so it's under and then as soon as I get past the counter I shove the clothes into my carry-on bag.
