Would love to know the number of times jv gets in with the very first comment of a deal.

        • Wonder if we can perform some kind of OzB stat search

        • @clarky:
Well, if you click on his name, you bring up the user profile.

          you're incorrect… check again…

    • Movies are subjective a bargain to some is not to others. Personally I will be considering the twin peaks and sopranos bluray box. I also want JFK and possibly The Driver depending how ugly the cover art is. However as an example of recent movies Hobbit, Fury, Pacific Rim would come to about $8.50 each on bluray

Well they all have a price… and 20% off is not a bargain if you can get them cheaper elsewhere…

as you would be aware with your 26520 comments on a whole JBHifi is our most completive media retailer so therefore 20% off is a bargain.

Hey melmac, you mention it starts Thursday (ie. today) but prices don't seem to have changed yet.

  • Just called JB - this starts Saturday?

    • Yep sorry catalogue page had 2 dates listed I just automatically read the one at the bottom of the page.

  • +1

    Would this work with pre-orders?

    • +1

      No

      • I might try it any way, I was pretty sure JB Hifi had a policy where if the price of the item officially dropped at any time between the time you purchased the pre-order and it became available, they would only charge you the lower price. But seeing as pre-ordered items are not actually available for sale during the 20% off weekend, it might not count.

        I'd like to order this:
        https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on…

I went to a screening and just happened to be sitting next to some of the people involved in its production, which was fun. It's a good B-grade Aussie horror movie, and I really hope they make a sequel!

They do, but I don't think you'll see any sort of reduction on the pre order stock (the 20% won't be applied to those prices), so it therefore won't come into play.

Worth a look but if you are planning to buy it anyway.

  • Will JB increase the price the night before ?

    • Not usually. I've seen a laptop go up overnight when one of these deals hit, but never any increases on DVD or Blu Ray. They are pretty transparent with when their special offers end, they are listed on each product, and generally the same dates are outlined in their catalogues and magazine.

      • +1

I've seen them increase Blurays before. My question was intended as "Will they do it again?".

I wouldnt mind John Wick but I think it needs to be lower than $23 before I will buy it

        • +2

That's odd, I've never seen them increase the price before a sale.
They would have to individually remove each sticker and replace it with a higher one.
Sounds like alot of effort to be deceptive.

          @SaffireBlack:

I'm going off online prices. Has happened lots of times.

I'm not sure about your local JB but my one never bothers changing sticker prices during sales, so theres no effort required.

  • I saw this deal but didn't take note of the date. I've been after a particular box set which can be difficult to get at times. Went to my local JB and they gave me the 20% off today just for asking.

Time for GoT S4 and get seasons 1-3 @ 50% off and then 20% on top !

    • Is there a limit to how many 50% off items you can get with Season 4?

      • +1

Guess not.. I just put GOT season 4 into the cart and then 5 other HBO BR and they all came up as 50% off…

    • I don't think you can actually add the 20% on top. The 50% off sticker specifies "Not valid with any other offer" etc etc. The usual guff.
      Anyone tried it?

      • I guess we find out tomorrow.

      • Yes in the past they've applied both 20% and 50%.

        • Cool, good to know.

      • Confirmed it applies. GoT S4 price also dropped $10 this morning, coming to $33.80 after discount
edit they fixed it - back up tp $42

It's the windows phone edition !!!

    Yawn JB

  • does this start at exactly midnight?

  • Can I use this offer to pre-order https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on…. - Hobbit, the Battle of Five Armies. $19.98 is the original price,

    • Not valid on pre-orders

      • Thank you. Yes you are right. Anyway I have pre-ordered it. Merlin series five is down from $29.98 to $23. Awesome!

  • Looks like the 20% off is now active, but isn't applying to any products with offers applied ie. no further discount on the Game of Thrones 50% deal, nor the B2G1F Blu Ray. Wonder if this is a glitch or that JB is not discounting deals anymore?

  • Deal is active. Came online about 2am. Bought $250 or so worth of Bluray buying nearly all missing HBO titles. Sucks that shipping is $1 each item now.

  • Yeah looks like no 20% off on 2 TV For $40 Or Blu-ray buy 2 get 1 Free :(

    • I went in store and bought season 8 & 9 of Supernatural for mum (2 TV for $40) and paid $32.

  • Just ordered off the b2g1f Blu Rays and it worked fine…. 6 Blu Rays for $51.something picked up….

  • The deals are now working. Psst OzBargain, seems they are double discounting GOT Season 4, grab it NOW.

    • Aaand…they've fixed it haha. Pretty sure someone from JB reads this site. We find all their glitches for them LOL. DVD was down to $27 and Blu Ray $32.

    • Having a look at it now, I got the limited edition version for $41.58! Nice :)
