I bought mine for this price about 4 months ago . Incredible screen , very fast but has really poor battery life and no OTA updates as yet . Other cons include bad camera and the charge port is micro USB , great for convenience bad if your in a hurry . The USB is exacerbated by the fact that the charge cable seems to make the touch screen very erratic and unusable . I've tried multiple chargers and cables with really long slow charging chords the best bet . Chrome didn't work until I googled up a fix which entailed a hacked rom . My son has a lot of fun on it but it just misses the mark IMHO .

99% of Android devices use micro-usb, what's your point?

      • -1

Samsung tablets must have a far smaller market share than I thought …
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-2M-USB-Data-Charger-Cable-For-…

We have an asus tablet that also has a proprietary charger . Point being it charges a lot faster .

EDIT : Yes it was me who downvoted you .

        • Why would anyone want a proprietary port? Still waiting for you point?

As for your Samsung comment, it's very out of date http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/07/the-best-thing-about-sa…

        • Samsung tablets only used a proprietary cable for early versions (Tab and Tab2). Not for Tab 3, Tab 4, Tab S, Tab Pro, Note 10.1 or Note 8.0. They also use it on none of their phones.

Between 2010 and Mid 2012, when all of the tablets that use that cable were released, Samsung sold 1.4m tablets (source: http://allthingsd.com/20120810/court-documents-show-samsungs…). There are currently over a billion Android devices shipped annually, so the tablets you're thinking of have an absolutely minuscule market share.

        • @PainToad:

          Point being this tablet charges very s l o w l y .
Not sure I can dumb it down any more than that .
The slow charging is a very minor annoyance compared to having to fix chrome and the erratic touch screen .

        • @troyww: That's nothing to do with the port.
it is most likely a cheap cable or cause it's a cheap Chinese device.

        • @troyww: lol you're really making yourself look d u m b

        • @troyww: Slow charging would be the 10000mah battery.

        • @bbyboy:

Have anything constructive to add .

          @troyww:
You were wrong about Micro-USB being a negative.
You were wrong about Micro-USB causing slow charges.
You were wrong about Micro-USB not being in the majority for Android devices.
You were wrong about modern Samsung devices still using proprietary ports.

Yet you're still being all arrogant? Just saying.

Sharing a personal experience about a device not many people know about? I think that's the point of his post.

  • /We use 850/700 1800 lte here
    /cable 2.1amp
    Spammers.

    • In Australia the 3G networks run off 850/900/2100 and this has 900/2100. Unless you're in a major city or cbd/metro area you most likely won't be able to use 4G LTE with supported devices.

      • Sill most users do live metro, while the lack of 850 'anything' lessens usability in any event (primary to reception before 4G700…).
        +0.5A for 10 ampere hours?..pass on that.

        • I guess I shouldn't compare Tas to the rest of Australia then. Our 4G isn't so good once you're out of the towns.

  • This tablet will also ship out from our Hong Kong warehouse within 48 hours.

    This is a lie.

    • Not really. 2 days after processing isn't bad.

      • Of course it's a lie.

Your original promise doesn't say anything about 'processing', it says "will also ship out from our Hong Kong warehouse within 48 hours".

Your original promise doesn't say "processing will take ten or more days", either.

That doesn't happen. You're trying to change the terms now, to adjust your original promise to what really happens.

        Thus, it's a lie.

I simply stated that shipping is within 48 hours, but I never specified it was 48 hours after processing, so in future I will specify that it's after processing. I assumed people would know this as it's a very common business practise. Geekbuying also states it here.

I'm not a Geekbuying Rep by the way. I don't have any control over their policies.

        • I simply stated that shipping is within 48 hours

That was a lie. Shipping does not occur within 48 hours.

        • @douglasb: Within 48 hours of purchasing? No. Within 48 hours after processing? Yes, it should.

        • @Clear:

It turns out that this is a complete scam.

They've sent a fake tracking number. Checked it every day on the DHL site and it never works.

They waited a week then sent an email claiming that "Sydney, Australia" is a remote area in DHL world and that I need to pay an extra USD$37 or they'll drop it back to 'registered airmail' shipping.

Smelling an obvious scam, I didn't bother to engage, just initiated a dispute with paypal.

A day and a half later, they've sent me another email saying (in fractured english) "look, it's been delivered, check the DHL site, please confirm".

Sure enough, a package with the same tracking number has been signed for by 'Adrian M' somewhere up the other end of the Sydney CBD.

So, the scam works like this: accept orders, take money, wait until you get a bunch of orders from the same city, send everyone the same tracking number, send ONE order with that tracking number, 'prove' to paypal/card company, etc that the order has been delivered with the DHL tracking info for that one delivered order.

God knows how many people get ripped off this way.

I reckon [@Clear] should cop a permaban from OzBargain for posting this!
